ebay global shipping question

I am back to selling so some things have changed since I sold a while back.  I checked to use ebay global shipping.  Now, I have a buyer who now says to package lightly since my auction says I ship to Singapore but they didn't receive an invoice from ebay reflecting that.   The buyer information has a US address.   Something doesn't seem right.  Plus, since I checked to use ebay global shipping, that means that is the only way I will ship Internationally, right?  or is there somewhere I need to specify that.     Thanks

Your buyer is not using the Global Shipping Program.  They are using a re-shipper (or package forwarding service).  Basically you ship to the re-shipper in the US, and the re-shipper sends it off to the buyer in Singapore.

@stephcollects, I agree with @orangehound that's what happening.  The reason why the buyer's address isn't Singapore is because his/her "registered address" with eBay is the US-based re-shipping company they are using.  Shipping cost paid to you by the buyer will only what it takes to get the package to their US-based shipper.  The buyer will then have to pay the re-shipper out of their own pocket to get the package sent to them overseas.

Good news for you about all of this is when a buyer uses a re-shipper they lose their eBay MBG protection.  As far as your buyer's request to pack the item "lightly," pack it a you normally would to protect your item from damage.

Thanks.  That is good to know.  He asked if he could send me his address in Singapore because it says I ship there, but I told him I would only ship to the address on his eBay account.
