ebay fees

I think its petty when ebay fee you to death. specifically on payout fees. When they can combine the payments, they wait and send out just to collect a two-dollar fee.

ebay fees

One reason I won't sell here. I find other ways to sell my stuff and never have to pay fees or deal with that managed payment nonsense.

ebay fees

Hi @bettles

It is all just a function of numbers going in and going out.  If the numbers don't work then something else should be done.  Here's my deal for Selling on eBay:

-I acquire inventory mainly from auctions, the auction houses have different Buyer's premiums ranging from 15% to 25%.  Most offer a discount between 3-5% if one pays in cash or with an acceptable check.

-I have a state tax ID so I do not pay 6% sales tax on items for resale, that reduces my cost

-I have an eBay store so pay the lowest FVFs in my categories as possible and use settings that give me the TRS Plus 10% discount on FVFs ... that's squeezing about as much out on the resale end as possible.

-Do I like the fact that eBay charges FVFs on both Paid shipping and Sales tax (when applicable)?  Absolutely not BUT, it is just another set of numbers that factor into retail sales on this venue

-So at the end of the day my sale price has to cover BOTH Buyer's premiums on the acquisition side and the FVFs on the resale side with the only real unknown being the income tax % owed on profits at the end of they year.  I have a target margin for sales on all inventory and that is known prior to bidding on auction items for acquisition.  When a particular lot goes over my target buy price, I'm out.

-As long as I make a profit at the end of the year that is acceptable for the effort I put forth then all is good, if not then I will make the next "business decision" accordingly.  So far so good.
