NO listings within the View Item listing itself, 25 listings (5 rows of 5 each) BENEATH the listing (click to enlarge the screen cap):

@new_spin_boutique I'm curious...what is it you don't like about it? And when you say "zero listings" are you saying there were no listings beneath the actual listing itself?

1st para: Got it, thanks!
2nd para: I saw an opportunity for a Haiku:
Whatever
it ends up to be,
there will surely be
an associated fee.

And...now it is gone on other seller's listings, but I still see it looking at my listings.

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques wrote:@valueaddedresource That could be it. Or maybe it just looks larger to me. In any event, it seems like a lot of space for what it contains. If they are going to give us that much space, it would be nice if they gave us some ability to customize it
@my-cottage-books-and-antiques it doesn't show in either of your screenshots, so it may not be relevant, but I noticed today eBay is displaying average response times in the feedback module for some sellers.
I hadn't seen it before so I think it may be another test and if so, maybe they increased the spacing in the module to allow for that to be displayed for some sellers?

@valueaddedresource Good catch! And yes, that would make sense. There was a thread recently where people were discussing responding to buyers, and I said then that I'm pretty sure ebay tracks response time. So far, I don't think it is a factor in the actual "Seller Performance" ranking, and it might or might not be one of the factors they consider in search ranking. But I'm not at all surprised to see them providing the info to buyers. And frankly, I'm fine with that, as it gives us one way, small as it is, to distinguish ourselves from our competitors, without paying extra (as we must do with Ads).
I wonder what else they might decide to display in that space? Probably be good to keep an eye on that module.

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques
Just ignore me. I skimmed through the OP and was talking about something completely different.
What I was referring to was today when I went into my listings tab on the seller hub, I was prompted with a popup that said this is the new listing page and yada yada. When I closed the popup the page was different and it showed zero listings. I refreshed, it did the same. Refreshed several times, then it eventually went away.
It looks like they're about to roll out a new interface on the seller hub, or something. But this is totally not what the OP was referring to. My mistake. 🙂

@new_spin_boutique OK. Thanks for explaining that....👍

Sad sad Sad...... my account already switched back to the crappy sponsored listings breaking up the sellers listing! Puts a damper on the whole thing. I wonder if you see the test only untilyou click on the feedback bubble?
Is there any logic to the madness of ebay?
08-26-2023 01:02 PM
Lol. Now it switched back to the better view again. Sometimes the promoted boxes will briefly show up when the page is loading then it will turn into the all seller info page. Bizarre it's like the new version is a skin over the old page? I am seeing no promoted listings interesting the descriptions again on most categories.... Except in eBay motors- it is still adding in one row of irrelevant promoted listings label "fits your jeep". I bought a few jeep parts 2 months ago and now it keeps showing me jeep parts even though I am I currently searching for vintage 1950s Buick parts☹️🙄.
When will eBay realize that most shoppers buy individual items here and the AI is just annoying and makes irrelevant searches?

LOL---- now this morning, when viewed in chrome- its back to 2 rows of promoted breaking up pictures and description(bad idea), but if i view through edge browser itis the better view with all the seller listing viewed without interruption like it should be. Neither view has the little "tell us what you think" buble on the bottom right of page.
An old common phrase comes to mind...,Ebay-Take a s#%t or get off the pot! lol...... We all know what the better design is- the one that is clean simple and does not distract the buyers from purchasing the listing that they already chose to view. PL are still there but at the bottom- out of the way but accessible to anyone who wants to shop that way
Pull the trigger ebay!- the constant site changes and tests wreak havoc with sales- we cant take it much more

@siamjane8 unfortunately "better" can have a lot of different meanings depending on motivation, what's being measured, and who is defining what the desired outcome should be.
eBay has made certain forecasts and set certain expectations with shareholders in regard to revenue growth from advertising on the site. Making changes to the site that may cause eBay to miss those forecasts or lose significant ad revenue would of course not be considered "better" by those shareholders.
The only way they might be able to calm shareholder concerns over such a decision would be if they can demonstrate it really *is* better because it would increase conversion so much that GMV would skyrocket enough to make slower ad revenue growth palatable - which I'm not sure it would, honestly.
Most sellers of course think that less ads/not having ads above the description is a far better experience and I absolutely personally agree with that, but how much of a difference does it really make on the buying side?
The only way to tell that is to test it out and watch what happens - assuming of course you have a technical and analytical team that is capable of running such tests correctly and in a way that will provide meaningful, accurate data.
Understand I'm not saying I like any of that....but it is the reality we are dealing with due to eBay being a publicly traded company that has pinned its hopes for maintaining shareholder happiness on increasing ad rev and taking a bigger piece of the pie rather than innovating and strategizing to maximize GMV.

@valueaddedresource You again hit the nail on the head....... the company that has pinned its hopes for maintaining shareholder happiness on increasing ad rev and taking a bigger piece of the pie rather than innovating and strategizing to maximize GMV.
As far as companies go- I am always going to be "pro" actual growth instead of short term trickery to make a quarterly quota. But i do recognize there are many way s to make money- even the scam phone calls we all get for "vacation credits" and solar panels for free- make money or they would not do it.
I guess the real issue is the short sightedness of the current board and management- only looking to their next bonus b4 they move on.
I am mostly a seller BUT i do buy tens of thousands of dollars worth of products each year. Most spending dollars have moved away from ebay over the years BECAUSE of the difficulty to find items due to the search manipulation and also the annoyance and inconvenience of have PL shoved down my throat at every turn. All of these issues are tied together in one way or another, but have gotten worse month over month with more emphasis being put on reaching that self proclaimed revenue goal for the PL ads.
I do agee with you that the word "better" is subjective to the goal.... is it better for ebay to continue to loose GMV and buyer/seller satisfaction, just to hit the PL quota? technically yes i guess, but that is just creating a lager issue for the next quarter as more sellers leave and the pool of people willing to use PL shrinks.
I am a quality over quantity person for sure but i guess there is more than one way to skin a cat...lol
The "better" design will result in more conversion.... but is that what ebay wants? that is the question.
BTW= it is working- my wife and daughter just bought a bunch of jeans for school from 4 different sellers.... and quite a few vinyl records-probably the first items my wife has bought on ebay in a year. She went to Macari first but said it was like ebay- so annoying and search got terrible...... then she tried ebay again and was surprised by the new layout and liked it. changed the whole view and dollars were spent!
Buyers can be fickle- the experience has to be a positive one and simple and intuitive- then they will come back. The "new" (although technically the old way b4 PL) design is a step towards buyer retention and satisfaction. Its not overwhelming and confusing.
Time will tell
