eBay stole my money!

I Sold a Louis Vuitton wallet, and buyer issued a return saying I didn't describe the item well. I clearly did as was stated by an eBay agent when I called to ask them to step in. They assured me I wouldn't be forced to accept the return. A few days later I get an email saying the exact opposite. Not only was I being forced to accept the return, but I had to pay for shipping back. eBay issued a return label and it was sent to my old address. To my add to the situation I moved during those days so the old building rejected the package. It was sent back to the buyer and that was the end of the wallet. by this time eBay had withdrawn my funds and the buyer had the wallet and refund.

I have explained repeatedly to numerous eBay agents and they still don't understand that  don't have the wallet and that they stole from me. I am crying in frustration as I can't believe a company that  have used for so many years s treating me like this.

Nobody is willing to help, nobody in eBay cares, that the buyer took advantage of eBay's policies. It is not fair.

Please somebody help me!

Re: eBay stole my money!

She stole the wallet because she has it and doesn’t want to return it. And I finally have written proof from USPS.

I updated my address immediately. I even updated it before I moved to avoid this from happening.

Re: eBay stole my money!

Have you tried politely calling the buyer and asking them to please send it back?

Or maybe send them a Christmas card, with an I'm sorry note and a return label inside?

A little groveling may get your item back.

What's it worth to you?

or

Do you just give up?

Re: eBay stole my money!

Okay but did you delete your old address from your account.

Several years ago, when I moved, I changed my address too only to find my old address was still coming up as my return address until I deleted my old address from my address completely even though i had added the new address to my account

Is this a possibility in your case?  Just wondering

Re: eBay stole my money!

i quit selling on ebay last winter for this very reason....  (5000 sales and 100 % feedback as a seller for 16 years )    NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT for sellers.     a buyer can say item not as described,  send you back a empty box and get your wallet and the money back.   that is a truth no one here on the forum will tell you.  and you have no recourse.

@craigstevensstudio Uh, this is not a correct assertion. These points have been made multiple times in this thread, including by myself (see message #57).

^^^^^^  this ^^^^^^^

That address is still in there someplace.  eBay did not pull it out of thin air.

For whatever reason............  when eBay ends up forced to provide the return address it sometimes goes the way it did for the OP. Have read it here before.

eBay digs in for it, or is coded by IT to use that address rather than the one used when shipping the sold item.

It's buried there somewhere.  When I first started selling, feeling the need for some privacy, I had  PO box for transacting eBay. No longer have the PO, and the "addy" has been totally removed.

Re: eBay stole my money!

Early in the thread she said she had NOT updated the addresses.

"To my add to the situation I moved during those days so the old building rejected the package. It was sent back to the buyer and that was the end of the wallet. by this time eBay had withdrawn my funds and the buyer had the wallet and refund. "  In her original post.

And this is what she marked as the solution.

The buyer had NOTHING to do with the wallet getting returned to them.  Absolutely nothing.  You do NOT have written proof that the buyer "stole" your item.  You have written proof that the package was returned to them because it was not accepted at the address it was sent to.

Hi @mam98031 i don’t want to beat a dead horse, but in the above examples,  the OP did not say she didn’t update her address. She admitted only that her address had changed. But she did explicitly state , in several messages, including messages #7, 9, and 10, that she did update her new address (on Oct 8th) on eBay.

People say that all the time on this forum.

The most common post I make is to say that any buyer can steal any item from any seller at at any time by filing a fraudulent dispute.
