We have all heard eBay promises and guarantees about how well their latest change is going to work. The real truth is that eBay is going to take a MAJOR HIT on the market as SELLERS abandon the site over protest.
Our companies have been on eBay since the week they started up. We did hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of business and initially loved the eBay and Paypal combination.
Then eBay started to change drastically, always for the worst.
Today Paypal is worth THREE TIMES what eBay is valued at. That will give you an idea about who people like.
I can only say now, after so many years, that I personally HATE eBay and LOVE Paypal.
No, Paypal is NOT going to be available on eBay in the future. The details are becoming clear as we hear the truth from sellers. Sellers are FORCED to give their personal banking info to the foreign company and then loose total control of their money. There is a huge delay before being paid, and no way to find out WHY.
Read the seller feedback. It's ALL NEGATIVE. Oh, and once you sign up for managed payments, you can NEVER opt out or retract. You are forever stuck with it. eBay has removed the contract line that says you can opt out.
Typical for eBay, you have NO OPTIONS. Sign up or close your account(s).
We did the later. We closed ALL of our eBay accounts that have existed since the 90's. Goodbye eBay and good riddance.

And what of sellers who have been told they'll be in MP come July but who, for whatever reason, don't have access to the boards?
Where are they supposed to get their "information"?
That seems a bit unfair. I've spent a lot of time answering questions and working to get the proper information to everyone. I have repeatedly said on several threads on various issues people have questions about for MP that when I get an answer, I will share it.
It is true that on the private board, only those currently in MP and those that have registered for July's entry can gain access to the board. But as I said above, much to the dismay of many, I've been all over these threads trying to answer questions and to get the proper answers for the various posters. I don't just puff hot air, I actually do try to get the information, the correct information.

But it's SIMPLER, or at least that's what ebay keeps pushing. Simpler for THEM maybe.

I was talking about all those sellers out there who have been banned from using the boards and have been summarily cut off from all this information on this new payment system. They can't access any of the information on even the general boards, sellers news, announcements, let alone the MP board.

To my knowledge, Ebay is preparing to do an email notification to all those going into MP in the next week or so to give them links to the policies that they have not already received links to. There have been some links shared with those going into MP already in these emails.
So while they are REALLY slow at getting this info out there, it is suppose to be coming.
Being banned from the boards doesn't ban them from being able to get to the policy pages from the links provided in emails.

I got messages with links, etc., with information as soon as I preregistered. I still have one question but no one has the answer to that so far.

YES, there are LOTS of questions that haven't yet been properly answered by Ebay. They are all over the threads. As I said earlier, I am hopeful this will change next week. The MP team has been working on updating all the policy pages to adhere to the new policy changes coming in July as they are significant and affect all members. Plus there is a little manual regarding MP.
It is forthcoming, I just don't know the exact date. But it should be soon. As our entry date keeps getting closer and closer.

I don't see sellers bailing from eBay en masse when Managed Payments is eventually forced upon us. I like Paypal and would prefer to keep it as is. I didn't opt-in the MP program because if "it works don't fix it" and I suppose I'll be forced sometime in the future to use MP. I've been selling on eBay since 1999 and have personally witnessed eBay's dumb ideas and smart ideas. The biggest eBay seller exodus happened right after eBay went public and tried to compete with Amazon (many mom and pop shops didn't appreciate corporate insensitivity towards small businesses). Ebay had been in the process of changing from a unique online antiques and collectibles forum into a place peddling new merchandise (stuff you can buy at your local megastore).
I think eBay later realized how important small businesses are who sell used items verses new items...that's why they give us 50 or more free listings per month (we're the bread and butter of eBay). The meat and potatoes of eBay, the large volume sellers peddling new stuff, is now in jeopardy due to U.S. and global relations with China (they unleased COVID-19 onto the world). Ebay sellers and drop-shippers who peddle wares made in China will begin to feel the heat and might need to rethink their supply chain strategy. These eBay sellers who sell new stuff made in China might leave eBay but that would have nothing to do with Managed Payments. If an eBay seller has every other component of his business not affected by "how you get paid" then I don't see sellers leaving eBay (I've read many rants on this community forum by sellers threatening to leave eBay and they never do). 🙂

Most likely because ebay has not shown themselves to be the most trustworthy venue around.
I've been here since 1999. I have yet to encounter a single issue with eBay itself. With buyers and sellers? Sure. But no problems with eBay as a venue.

The part I bolded has to be the most tone deaf thing I've heard in a while. Yes, the virus was first detected in Yuhan but to say it was unleashed by them? Their causing Covid to spread is as true as the we caused the spread of the 1918 Spanish Flu. Which by the way started here in the good ol' US of A. C'mon now, you're xenophobia is showing.
Now back to topic. Ebay themselves were decrying PAYPAL when it first came on the scene. I remember reading how it could not be a trusted method of payment compared to their Billpoint. Until they bought PAYPAL that is. Then it was the only method of payment to be trusted.
I don't trust or distrust MP. Yet. But I don't understand why people keep saying you don't get your money as quickly. Sure the money goes into your account immediately and can be used for purchases etc. only from your PAYPAL account. Some of us don't do all of our finances that way. And it still takes a day or two to transfer into a bank account.
Tomato. Tomato.

@a1_surplus_sales It's 2020 and Sellers should have options on which Payment Processor they prefer. My experience with PayPal has been exemplary. I would even be willing to pay an extra % point (to eBay) to keep PP as my Payment Processor.
When MP was first announced it was 2-3 days to get paid ... THAT has NOT proven to be true ... 2-10 days or longer as reported here. The other part is eBay - Adyen only keeping records for 90 days and NOT answering questions here in the open forum about the back end accounting which simply amplifies some of your points ... it is certainly NO WAY I was ever taught how to treat VALUED business associates.
There was plenty of time to work out all the bugs AND details of a complete business payment processing package yet even as of today we are told it is an ongoing work in progress ... THAT from a 22 Billion dollar (last year) company. What is being done with all the money they earn from those sales? Certainly not attracting the high end IT experts to complete the site's programming.
I will close by saying I love Selling on eBay and in July will be shoved in to MP and I am not happy with that and will make certain adjustments moving forward ... how much eBay remains as my selling portfolio depends on how things go from that point forward.

I liked Billpoint when it came out and was reluctant to switch to Paypal.
Many sellers were furious when eBay stopped cheque/money order/pukka shell/ cash payments in favour of Paypal.
One complaint about PP as the only payment processor has been that there have been no alternatives offered or allowed for some years.
Managed Payments apparently allows the buyer to use PP, ApplePay, GooglePay and a few other services as well as their own credit cards and bank balances.
There will not be any MP to MP payments, however, because MP will not allow the seller to build a balance and use it for buying, unlike Paypal.
Personally, I am planning to put off MP as long as possible, in part because there has been no allowance made for us Canadian sellers, to attach both a Canadian bank account AND an American one, so we can receive payments in both currencies (the norm for Canadian sellers) without paying currency exchange fees.
