Most small businesses on eBay are suffering with lack of or no sales, so instead of trying to get to the reason why, what do eBay do? Try to claw back their losses by putting up fees for sellers, launch ads/sponsored campaign, charge further fees if you are put into the below standard seller category, even if you have 100% feedback. eBay was founded on feedback, but now it's all about metrics. You can have 96% positive feedback with thousands of negatives yet be a top rated seller. The system is unjust, wrecking people's livelihood, and skyrocketing buyers and sellers to Amazon.

The reason for slow sales is people are not interested in buying what the seller is selling.
If I were selling brand new Playstation 5's for $1.00, sales would be brisk.
If I were selling vintage belt buckles for $1,000, sales would be slow.
How do you credit or blame ebay for either of those scenarios?

I don't. It is not about price or product. My friend sells identical products on eBay and Amazon. His price on eBay is cheaper, yet he sells more on Amazon. If a seller with thousands of negatives can be a top rated seller, provides a bad service to customers then they won't shop on eBay again resulting in a potential loss of sale for me.
Amazon leads the pack among retail e-commerce companies in the United States with a current market share of 37.8%. Walmart comes in second with a market share of 6.3%, followed by Apple at 3.9%.1

Shipping has a lot to do with it. If you order on Amazon, you know for a fact your item will get to you very quickly. With eBay an the USPS, not so much.

I hate to say this but on many items I buy I will place more confidence in Amazon for a swift shipment when I want and need something straight away. They need to have and should have had a way for buyers to pay into the swift shipment process like Amazon for the prime delivery. I could increase sales here ten fold.

Because Amazon has warehouses that is why they can do Prime shipping and have buyers buy their prime services.

True, but realize that when a person uses the Amazon warehouse you will lose at least 40% off your price plus the cost to ship to the warehouse. That 40% is an average as I sold items that ranged in the high 40's and very low 50% range. Margins are too low, but the volume could be worth it. I bailed out of that platform 3 years was enough.

And what does that say about people? I can remember a time when you ordered something through a paper order form through the mail and it took 6-8 weeks for delivery. Not having patience isn't a positive thing. It's annoying and unnecessary. If someone has an instant need there's a B&M business somewhere near them that has what they need. If it's a WANT... You can wait a few days.

I've used the USPS for decades and have very few problems in all those years. I have more problems with ordering things from people who use FEDEX then I ever have with the USPS. And Amazon's "next day shipping" isn't very "green" and is totally unsustainable long term.

Not to mention the stress of having to jump through hoops so someone can get their T-Shirt in less than 24 hours.

Finally someone on here is telling it like it is and how dare you blame ebay??

Let's hope they take notice.

I respectfully disagree. If you pay for Prime you may get it quicker and I say may. We buy from Amazon rarely and do not pay for prime. It normally takes a week. I ship my orders in 24 hours and my customers get them in the same time.

@myfrugalboutique funny you mention that - Amazon is currently facing a lawsuit alleging false advertising of Prime benefits for exactly this reason...that faster delivery promise is increasingly not being fulfilled.

I second that.
