-Buyer purchases an item then AFTER they pay asks to have the shipment delayed 4 days ... errnt, I have one day Handling, no can do. eBay never implemented the Pause button that was suggested, had to message and eventually call the Buyer to explain eBay's late shipping defect policy and lack of flexibility that would allow me and other Sellers to work out a deal like this. They pretty much agreed ...
-Another Buyer was interested in 7 items, they messaged and asked if they can be combined, I say yes and let me turn OFF Immediate payment required, which I did. Buyer buys one and it comes through Paid for and after that the Buyer messages again and says to WAIT to ship that one until they make up their mind on the other ones ... errnt, had to explain One Day Handling and late shipping defects to them too.
Sellers are perfectly capable of working with THEIR customers and constructing deals with special requirements ... the above are only a few examples. But sadly, the eBay venue for Sellers is not flexible for Sellers to work out their own deals with Buyers. eBay is too hung up on the subjective Seller metrics and that inadvertently works against "Enhancing the Buying experience".
eBay wants every transaction to fit their cookie cutter format but that is not what happens in the real world.

This issue has been raised numerous times to eBay to no avail. It should be very easy to solve.
1) have an option under shipping information where the seller can indicate if they are willing to accept delayed shipping requests (if you can't you can't).
2) If that is checked, just like buyers can request a cancelation, have post sale buyer requests a delayed shipping and then either have a date they want ship or a time frame 7 days, 10 days, etc. Then the seller could determine if that was possible for that item.
eBay started a person-to-person selling site. One if its hallmarks was the ability to transact with people in the ways that made most sense for the seller and the buyer. It was not based on a pre-determined way that eBay thinks the buying and selling experience should be.
This issue is a clear example of how eBay's common denominator approach to selling actually hurts both buyers and sellers. Being able to provide personalized service in cases like this is the kind of thing that brings buyers back time and time again.

One guy did. He charged like 5 cents for an item and $4.95 shipping. In other words, he played the system. What I mean is there are no REAL sellers.
