These last couple years have been a dice roll with eBay and their authentication guarantee. A year or so ago, I purchased a pair of brand new shoes that had been authenticated through eBay's authentication process. They had an eBay authentication RFID tag attached that, when scanned, showed the listing on eBay where they were purchased. Last month I decided to resell them so I posted them here on eBay. They quickly sold and were sent off for authentication before being sent to the buyer with the original eBay RFID still attached. eBay received them and once noted them as being authentic but cancelled the transaction. I had to call to get a reason but was informed that the shoes didn't match my description because there was hair found on one of the insoles. I did sell them as new since they had never been laced up but I had tried them on when I got them. The shoes were returned but with the RFID tag removed. I relisted them with an adjusted description to appease the authentication Gods and once again they sold pretty quickly. To my surprise, this time when eBay received them, they marked them as not authentic, cancelled the order and banned me from relisting them. There has to be a better process.
