eBay refunded a buyer who open a dispute with me. I sold an item on Sept 15 and item was delivered sept 20th according to the delivery confirmation. On October 18th A mth later buyer claims he never received the item. Who waits a mth on a $1800 purchase if it wasn't received to ask about it? Gave eBay all the information I had and the delivery confirmation number stating when and where and what time it was delivered. I had proof of delivery and eBay STILL refunded the buyer!!! They charged my credit card for it! I'm now out of my merchandise and $1800. Are they allowed to do this? Where is the protection for the seller?

How did you give eBay the information?

Did you get signature confirmation ? If not, that is why you lost. If you did get signature confirmation did you upload the info into the case ? If not, that is why you lost.

Evening,
This is terrible.
Did you check PP to see if a case was opened there?
Not knowing more...seems there is some missing info.
If you shipped to the address given on Paypal and have delivery confirmation I don't understand why they would rule in the buyers favor.
Per chance did the buyer open a SNAD either here or on PP?

Yes I shipped to the address on the PayPal account. eBay is saying Bc there wasn't a signature confirmation they sided with the buyer. That's total **bleep**.

Ouch. Unfortunately you were required to use signature confirmation in order to have seller protection from ebay AND paypal. Hard lesson to learn. This is why it is so important that you read the seller protection policies....

Oh Man...So you didn't have signature confirmation?
I am pretty sure ebay says you have to have it for sales of $750 or higher.

It may be total bleep, but what eBay told you is that in order to get seller proection, you have to follow the rules for seller protection. This is the answer to your question about "Where is the protection for the seller?"
Funny you didn't mention this part in the original post.

This is so wrong. Buyer took advantage of the situation seeing that I was new to eBay and didn't know signature confirmation was required.

No that is policy(has been for years)-any order totaling over $750 must have online viewable signature confirmation.Insurance sig is not viewable online so dosn't work

You are correct, for a seller to have protection from an INR case, the seller is required to ship using online viewable signature confirmation if the total payment is $750 or more. It used to be $250 but eBay upped it several years ago. That is why the OP lost.

Yes...there are a lot of unscrupulous folks out there.
In this case Ebay would of had you completely covered if you had the signature confirmation.
We also have to be careful when assuming someone is scamming just because they one a case.
There have been folks that had their items stolen or legitimately not delivered.

Hit the seller protection link in paypal on every sale to check whats required. Sometimes it is different for other currencies or countries.

If you search ebay for the item everyday it will pop back up for sale. You can search by their zip code closet first and it will be within 15 miles of where you sent it....

Don't Skimp on the registered, signature confirmation, tracking and insurance on big ticket items. Check yourself twice on all the fine points of seller protection for your own protection. Better to pay a little more than to get a huge chargeback.
