eBay only listen to Buyers

I never used eBay for selling before and I got my first experience. Probably the last.

I sold my Nikon NIKKOR 35mm f/2 D AF Lens as is and used. Is an old lens, more them 15 years and I put all these information in the description.

The buyer is requested a refund after lots of days saying that has another lens, newer, and the pictures of the lens he bought from me aren't sharp as the pictures of his new lens. Of course, an old lens produces different images them a new one and as I sold used and as is, and it is working I don't agree with the refund request.

After some messages I reported the used to eBay help me but had no answer and for my surprise today I got an e-mail telling that the refund request was accepted.

Why didn't eBay answer me back? Why didn't contact me aout this issue?

These are the pictures the buyer sent me saying aren't sharp. Does anyone see a problem with them?

The only e-mail that I got from eBay was about the accepted refund request and I called eBay, the person saw the pictures and said they are perfect but can't do nothing.

I'm sorry that  your first and probably only selling experience on Ebay went so poorly.  The buyer probably filed that the item was Not As Described also referred to on the boards as SNAD (Significantly not as Described) and once they do that with Ebays new stance on returns you automatically were going to lose.  Hopefully you got your item back before the refund was issued by Ebay but that is not guaranteed either as Sellers only have so many days to accept a return and send the buyer a free return shipping label.

This is all automatic now and you as the Seller do not have any say so in it whatsoever, other than to send them the return shipping label and hope that you get the same item back that you sold and there is not even a guarantee on that, nor any protection from that happening to you.  Ebay will also probably keep their fees so you will  not only be out the shipping both ways (if they returned the item) but will be out the FVF of probably 10% of the sales price that Ebay keeps.

If you do ever do any more selling on Ebay, you need to keep up with the Sellers updates that come out anywhere from 2-3 times a year and are usually giving more power to the Buyers and making it harder for a Seller to make a profit on ebay.  But here is the link to the most recent Update in case you are interested in reading it or change your mind about selling again.

Re: eBay only listen to Buyers

Hi, I took a look at your listing, and the only information i read was from the eBay catalogue saying what a great lens this is. I did see it was listed as "used" with no returns. The very first sentence was praise for the nice pictures this item takes. It said as follows:

"The Nikon Nikkor 35 mm f/2.0 D AF Lens is a fast, wide-angle telephoto lens with a big F/2.0 maximum aperture to enable high-quality pictures in low-quality light conditions. "

There was no info on how old the item was nor any comparisons that might lead the buyer to assume the lens won't take sharp pictures. I wouldn't say the description is misleading, there is just nothing added to the catalogue text that could clarify the down side to purchasing an older model. All the included text is overwhelmingly positive on the expected performance. I also found no reference to the lens being sold "as is" or any verbage to the like that might indicate to the buyer that the performance would be lacking in any way.

How did you report the buyer and what reason did you give for reporting them? Generally it is necessary to make a phone call to report an issue. In the US, there is no email or few other means of communicating with them meaningfully. If you made a report online outside of a case, eBay does not follow up on most such reports. It would have to be an unusual circumstance. Your opportunity to tell your side of the story is thru the buyer's opening of a case which apparently they did. You have so many days to respond before eBay makes a decision to refund. You can appeal the decision. Here is a link below with info on how to do that.
