Around a month ago, I sold a used laptop on eBay, clearly mentioning in the item description that the battery was not good and it could hold only about half an hour of charge (to the best of my knowlege) and that returns were not accepted. The buyer claimed that the battery was bad and requested a return which I declined. However, eBay let the buyer return it and they even provided a return address to him which was 11 years old without asking me first and the laptop was sent to a wrong address. I never received the laptop and for all practical purposes, the ~$250 laptop is lost! I appealed eBay's decision multiple times and they always rejected my appeal and forced me to fully refund the buyer plus shipping. Eventually I asked for their legal department and I'm considering suing eBay in a small claims court. What are my options and chances of success here? Any advice from the community and the sellers who have been in this situation?
This is a pretty clear mess up on eBay's part.... They turned a long time customer into an active enemy! Any lawyers who would like to take this case on my behalf?

@roy8765 wrote:That’s the whole point! If eBay claims to be a neutral platform, it has a duty to protect sellers interests as well as buyers. If eBay knows that some listings are incorrect and still allows bad buyers to take advantage of sellers, it’d be complicit in buyers actions. Sellers need to know that eBay currently only protects buyers interests such as in my case where the buyer requested an illegitimate return and now may even be trying to pouch my laptop for free....
And they were neutral in this case....you did all this to yourself. You violated the policies, you listed incorrectly, you provided an incorrect return address etc. EBay has no choice but to allow the return and make the refund...you didn't leave them any other choice.
No one can protect you from yourself...all they can do it tell you what you cannot do or can do and why....final decision is all yours...and consequences from your actions are also all yours.
Ebay has a tendency to treat people as adults...not children...and since you agree to follow the rules and policies they assume that is what you will do. When they find out you didn't....you do not get a pat on the back...you suffer the consequenses for your actions and choices.

eBay must remove all laptop listings that it's been informed of to have the same situation. My lawyer will officially inform eBay of such listings and you must remove those listings within a reasonable time-frame. He says if eBay refuses to remove those listings after it's been informed about the violation, it'd be a strong indication of bias and breach of neutral stance. Again, our goal here is to show eBay that there's no winning by unfairly treating sellers. eBay has caused a lot of bad publicity recently and this will be yet another one.
No they most certainly do not...and your lawyer cannot make them...and it is not an indication of any such thing. He too, which I do not think really exists, would have to read in full the polices and acknowledge you violated several of them as well as a law....and as such you lost a dispute.
The mere fact you just said what you did is a huge indication there is no lawyer involved on your end.
I am also begining to think this whole thing is just for drama or entertainment or attention or something.

Don’t be too sure my friend! This will be my last post here. I’ll relegate all matters to my attorney who’s handling another suit against eBay currently as well.

BTW...your attorney, if he existed, would have told you not to discuss a legal matter on a public board and admit to several wrong doings, disregard of your contract with ebay, several policy violations and even illegally using an address not yours.... as they can all be used against you in court...and now serve as an admission of guilt.

Wikipedia is not really an encyclopedia as you think it is...and probably will not be admitted as evidence of anything as it is all user / volunteer generated information and not always factual. It can also be changed and edited at anytime by pretty much any user.
Oh and you did admit to many things and even volunteered other information that only serves to hurt your standing.
But much ebay...no one can protect you from yourself...not even a lawyer.
