Got a fraudulent return; issued partial refund; found out I could not issue partial refund. Checked wrong box on the listing. Went into PayPal and issued full refund on last day I was supposed to do so. Refund still shows "pending" in Paypal.
Buyer escalated to eBay so I had eBay call me back. Agent lied to me and said as long as they saw the refund had been issued it would be resolved in my favor. I told him exactly what I did, that I went in and refunded the remainder and it showed as pending in Paypal.
Today I get an email eBay has charged me the remainder of the amount on the credit card used to pay the eBay fees. In essence they will double refund the buyer to the tune of about $50 and steal that $50 from me.
That is theft. Already out $30 because of this guy.
I have a request in for them to call me back now, but before I call the card company and tell them to deny this charge or call Paypal and tell them to cancel the refund what can I do to get common sense to prevail at eBay?

Wow, the last guy didn't even read my post at all. How the devil do you get to INRs on an item that was returned and is here in my hands?
For the 8000th time, a buyer returned an item and I initially only partially refunded him. When eBay informed me I was required to fully refund their money, I did so via PayPal, but the account had no funds in it so it remained pending. Two days later eBay refunded the buyer $50 or so when he escalated his case even though refund of same by me was pending in PayPal. For whatever reason eBay ignored the pending transaction even though I called and made an agent aware of it. Effectively when the PayPal cleared it would refund the buyer twice, to the tune of an extra $50. INRs have zero to do with this.
Anyways, to put a cap on this, after waiting a week from when the initial refund was made for the PayPal transaction to clear, I went back to eBay via chat and asked to appeal the case. Finally common sense prevails.
Outcome of this is they reversed the outcome of the case. The $50 charge to the card that eBay bills my seller fees will be returned, the final value fee of about $10 is refunded, and the return shipping charge will be refunded too. In addition any feedback the buyer leaves will be removed. I'm still out the initial shipping, but that's all.
I have no idea if the buyer gets to keep the bonus money eBay sent or is billed for it or what. The agent didn't really answer that one.
Ebay has no way to reclaim that money from the buyer, so the buyer keeps the money. What Ebay refunded you was out of Ebay's pocket.
In the future to help in preventing at least part of this problem, don't drain your PP account. Always keep enough money in PP to at least be able to process one or two average transactions you have. Those pending refunds really mess up and complicate the process. So do your best to not allow that to happen in the future.
Again I'm very happy this worked out for you. I hope your future is without issues like this ever again.
