Just a few years ago eBay seller fees were 8%. Now, 15%. With less than preferred seller rating? Fees are 20%. Then, eBay steals more substantial fees on heavy shipping items. I been flagged by eBay and they constantly review my items for sale. They removed my Ham Radio amp listing due to possible CB amp, yet two same brand have been listed on eBay for a year and four same type listed for over a month. They are ok with Ebay, but not my amp. The amp is Ham type with 40 to 10 meters on face and CB is 11 meters. I have stopped buying electronics and when my supply sells out, I am gone.

'justforfun'..."I am gone."....I had to giggle at this...
Some sellers get notice quicker than others..."yet two same brand name have been listed"...and maybe your competitors 'reported you' or someone else...and did you 'report them'?

I do not work for eBay, but found this:
Electronic equipment policy | eBay

"Just a few years ago" Paypal was deducting their fees automatically so you probably didn't notice them. Ebay's were clearly known because you were billed for them. Now the combined fees are still almost the same as before the split. But I don't see how yours are 20 percent. Are you promoting? If so, well...

Just a few years ago, Ebays fee was 10% and Pay Pal was 2.9%.
Now, in most categories it's 13.25%.
That's what, a .35% increase in the last 12 years, when I joined.
No, they don't steal more on heavier items, it's still 13.25%.

How is it stealing when you agreed to the fees when you agreed to eBay’s TOS when you opened your account?
Before eBay charged their fees on shipping many sellers would offer items for a dollar and exorbitant shipping charges because there was no fees on shipping. Also, many sellers bury the shipping fees in the price of their items and offer free shipping. Charging fees on shipping levels the playing field for sellers the offer free shipping and those that charge for shipping.

When I first started hearing about Ebay, they said they found this great web site where you can buy almost anything for a dollar, but the shipping was pretty high.

I remember when the MAX Fee was $75. I had a $8000 sale and the fee was $75. I processed my own money and everyone was happy.

What does shipping have to do with the sale?

Back in the early days of eBay, their fees where based on item sell price, not on shipping. It was very common for some sellers to advertise a lower priced item, with a higher-than-normal shipping cost to compensate and increase their profit. Nowadays, fees come from final selling cost shipping included, among other items such as tax as well.

If we go back far enough, Ebay did not give any listings for free and the listing fees were the reason many sellers stopped selling on Ebay, There were no good until cancelled listings and 10 days was the longest.
Many sellers had poor sell through rates because their items did not have broad appeal or their listings stank, and their pricing was "overly optimistic".
Sellers paid Ebay more then than now. But it was divided into multiple fees.

Back then, they would sell a $300 for $1 and charge $300 for shipping.
Then, they only charged you a fee on the item, so they were paying fee's on $1 and not the $300.

With regard to @tobaccocardyahoo 's reference to going back far enough, certainly, FVF was lower than what we pay now but the nickel and diming in insertion fees more than made up for it.
We were charged 15 cents for each extra picture after the first, an auction starting at $9.99 had loweinsertion fees than if it started at $10, $25-$49.99 starts were another increase, $50 another increase, etc. Insertion fees rose as the starting prices of auctions rose. If you wanted to add a "buy it now" price to an auction, that cost extra.
For me, my monthly invoices were considerably higher than they are now!

Like many are used to saying here, this loophole/issue was corrected a long time ago.

Today purchasing shipping directly from eBay they know exactly what you paid. They charge the fees because they can and are use to the income now so I do not see the fees ending.
