eBay has NO RIGHT to steal ,yes STEAL, money meant for shipping, from sellers. When a seller puts a shipping price in, the price they’re quoting is the actual shipping cost. But eBay ,for some reason, believes they’re entitled to take 13.5% of that shipping money therefore having the seller themselves make up the difference.
Ebay already takes 13.5% from the final auction price. That should be it! They have nothing to do with shipping. They’re not handling the item in any way, shape or form. If it cost $10 to ship, that is exactly what the seller should receive, not $8.65.
eBay has become greedy in their practice of stealing money from sellers, from the same people who allow them to exist.
*Im aware what TOS says, that doesn’t make it right.

Just removed 18 items from Ebay. This company makes money through fees that are often hidden or not really disclosed especially to new sellers.

Heres why I am on Ebays side of this. In the past, some (some, not all) sellers would sell expensive items for a very low price, and grossly overinflate shipping, to avoid ebay fees on what the item was actually worth. Now, it doesnt matter where they break down their amounts, shipping or the item sale price.
Now, a better argument to make, would be that Ebay is double dipping on the shipping when a seller a purchases shipping through the ebay site. Because ebay gets a certain percentage of the shipping cost from the carrier, through their business deals with the carriers, plus then they take another 13.5% from the seller. This is a much stronger argument to make against ebay and being excessively greedy.

Ebay could probably put some back-end logic in place to identify cases of very small sale prices and very large shipping prices and either prevent those items from being listed until the ratios changed (because they would know the total amount by combining shipping cost plus item cost and see how out of whack it is). That probably could be programmed in. They could also keep track how many times a seller tries to circumvent item prices and send them warnings about continued fee avoidance attempts.
But as it is now, ebay doesn't have to waste any time tracking anyone down or keeping track of this because shipping and price are both included, so theres no one to catch for fee avoidance.

Ebay has NO HIDDEN fees @mlrportland88 . It is a seller's responsibility to know what the fees are. If you don't look them up, that isn't on Ebay as it is information easily accessed.

You are free to purchase your shipping for a different site if you prefer you help them earn money. The price of shipping is likely to be about the same as you can get here. So if you feel strongly about Ebay being paid for the service of giving you the ability to get your shipping labels on this site, you can just easily purchase them someplace else and let that site earn the money on the services they rendered.
What category do you sell in that you have to pay 13.5% FVF. You are very consistent about stating that amount and I'm not aware of any category that has that FVF rate. Plus I assume you have a Basic or Premium Store which means your FVF is likely closer to 13%.

That would likely catch some listings where the seller is inappropriately pricing stuff, but it would catch others that do not. There are lots of items on Ebay that cost less for the item than it costs to ship the item out. So just because the shipping is higher priced than the product doesn't mean the seller is doing something wrong.
Besides all sites similar to Ebay charged their FVFs on Shipping long before Ebay adopted the policy. It is just industry standard. I don't know of too many people that like it, but it is simply a fact.
