This could be why some people have no traffic and sales. It is happening right now, try for yourself.
I'm looking for a deal on 4GB DDR4 desktop memory, so searching with these words: Lot 4GB DDR4
Changed from best match to price+shipping lowest. There are 7500 results, but after page 4, every page only shows 2 items. I also duplicated this on an incognito window, same thing. No buyer is going to keep clicking pages to see 2 at a time.
If I change the number shown option at the bottom right from 60 to 120, instead of 7500 results, it shows 1000+ results and starts showing 2 per page after page 5.

True story. Ebay is all about the almighty dollar.

In my specific desire to search for Lot 4GB DDR4, I'm looking for a needle in a haystack, lowest cost per module. So someone could be selling 5 or 10 or 20 or 50, but also could be an odd number like 37. I want the best price on up to 50 pieces, from one or more sellers. I won't click 2 at a time. I'm on eBay every day. A buyer who only comes here once in a while could experience this and just give up. Maybe never look here again.

That would not surprise me at all. You want to search for a Hot Wheels Ford Mustang muscle car and sometimes I will get a Ford Bronco in the search. I have even gotten pictures of horses (mustangs.). It doesn't matter if I click exact words. Sometimes, ebay will send out anything that contains some of the words in the hopes that I will buy. The only thing that I can tell you is to keep trying and to be patient.

Post screenshots and mention it here in a post, now it is fixed within minutes. Either a peculiar coincidence, or proof that eBay search is nothing but whatever random garbage they want to show at any given time.

not sure why you would go beyond x page if you are searching for lowest price?

As stated above, looking for the lowest price per module up to 50 pieces. Page 1 through whatever may be lots of 2,3,5,10 but average price per module could be 7-10 dollars. I want $5 or less. So it becomes necessary to search many pages because maybe someone has 38 modules for $189.

True. My stuff is rather inexpensive and are not really showing up...rather the more expensive stuff. My new stuff will show up for the first day. But then we get "best match". And the big sellers with a lot of stuff for sale will show up at the top.
I guess repeat buyers is what I am hoping for.
And then there are the sellers who will post a useless stamp for sale at $5000. to get their items posted at the top also. I sell stamps. I laugh at these sellers who think their stamps are worth hundreds of dollars.

The cheap stuff is hidden so that many never see them. When you filter price lowest to highest, you see items and somewhat hidden above is........
(We’ve streamlined your search results to show you the best listings..see more results).
That's where the cheapest stuff can be found.
As for seeing car Hoods when you run a search for disc brakes? That's the Hood sellers using incorrect information in their Item Specifics.
WHY would a hood seller do that? Because Item Specifics is the perfect place to keyword spam.
Instead of having 80 characters in a title to NOT keyword spam.
There are now about 1000 characters, hidden from plain sight, in which NOT to do it.
SO........keyword away to your hearts content I guess.

The 2 per page thing stopped around 9:20am eastern time. If you searched with my terms at 9:00, it would have been 2 per page beginning with page 4.
If I was just some random person looking for something on eBay, I would have given up and looked on other sites when it started showing 2 per page.
I did eventually find and buy what was probably the best deal, quantity 45 for 189 from a seller in Ohio. $4.20 per module. That is tough to beat most days here.

I agree, the filters have an eBay agenda meaning...more-so than an actual meaning. Which is mostly due to Promoted Listings.
When trying to find the least expensive (which I would assume is a priority for a majority of shoppers). ALL results..In Order...is important.
The cheapest ONE might be easy to find.
The cheapest quantity is a different story though. If you are not seeing ALL, IN ORDER. It makes it really difficult.
ONE with free shipping might be $10 (easy to find).
FIVE with free shipping is $50 and that's probably not going to be best deal. The best deal might be listed at $10 + $3 shipping....and then when you get in there, extra's might be free shipping or greatly reduced. Thus making quantity cheaper.
and then...You have those that have flat out listed 50 of them in a lot for $300.
Promotions have really messed up the search functions and filters.
