Hello ! I have a question regarding eBay fees. I sell on the .com domain. I just sold a puzzle for 135$ with 80$ shipping to Mexico and after all the fees i am left with 172$. I checked the payment details and i have 42$ fees on the 215 ( sale price + shipping) which is like 20% before me paying the shipping. After i pay 80 for the shipping i am left with 92$ which means that i basically paid 32% in fees final from the original 135 sale. Am i not doing something correct or the fees are getting completely ridiculous ?

Actually ebay apply the fees on the total amount (Sale price + shipping cost + taxes "if any").
Also there is "International fee" , Ebay apply this fees only if the buyer's registered address is outside the seller registered address country, in your case you are registered address in Bulgaria and the buyer is in Mexico, so ebay will apply the International fee on the total amount which is 3.3%
I'll detail your fees as following:
1- Final Value Fees for your item's category %12.9 (215 x 12.9 / 100)= $27.74
2- International fee %3.3 (215 x 3.3 / 100)= $7.1
3- Fixed fees (per order)= $0.3
4- VAT (%20) apply on ebay total fees ($35.14 x %20 / 100)= around $7.01
Total fees (includes VAT) : $27.74 + $7.1 + $0.3 + $7.01 = $42.15

Wow that 20% VAT on the fees really adds up! Canada GST (VAT) varies from 5 - 15%. I thought that was high enough.

Yes it's, but next time you need to keep in your mind ebay fees when you are pricing your items and shipping costs, also i suggest you to split the shipping cost into 2 parts, add one part with the item price, and the other put it in the shipping cost, for example, if your item price is $150 and the shipping cost is $80, split the shipping cost into 2 parts ($40 / $40), add $40 on the item price, and the other $40 put it in the shipping cost.

The time to figure out what the fees are is BEFORE you sell something.
