eBay and Paypal separating

I just read the ordeal of Ebay and Paypal seperating. I hope these changes will offer us to use different payment methods once again.

I liked excepting money orders and the such. Also the New Bitcoin is in place.

What do you think will happen out of this change?

Re: eBay and Paypal separating

I only use paypal, anywhere that accepts it! Ebay,Etsy, all over. And since most places on the internet do,I won't stop using it. I happen to like it&have never had problems with it IMHO,it just makes things much simpler, for me. I get my money right away, can pay right away. As fo0r giving out 'personal info'...you kinda have to do that anyway,in many transactions, from paying bills,to buying things. Even for getting those credit cards, most people are so fond of. (:

Re: eBay and Paypal separating

I agree, feels safer+I don't NEED a credit card,if I don't want to use one,if I use paypal,I just get the paypal my cash card, load it up to my paypal account&I am good to go,for paying fees(ebays) shopping&I am happy with that.. I use paypal all over. It's just easier all around, for me. I have had no problems whatsoever using paypal,either,so...I am sticking with it.

Re: eBay and Paypal separating

I just had my 1st return since the split and am not happy with it at all . PayPal was already holding money for the return in process I went in and refuned the buyer for the return instead of taking the refund out of the money they already had on hold for this return they refuned the money from a new sale I made and still shows this money on hold . I talk to PayPal after being transfer to three different people I was told to wait 24 hours and it would show correctly . No you are already hold money for this return take it from there not new items I sold and I should not have to wait 24 hours your were already holding money. So now you get to take it from me twice . Fix this people

Re: eBay and Paypal separating

I agree, need to fully remove paypal, can't pay with my card because I wouldn't fax paypal my SSN so now anything paypal affiliated, I can not purchase anything.

I think it will be messy for a while. There are probably all sorts of agreements in place that aren't necessarily friendly to small sellers and there will undoubtedly be some unexpected and unintended consequences (things they didn't anticipate while doing the paperwork). Links between the two sites will have to be done differently.

But I'm really hoping eBay will put in a transparent merchant-card acceptance to make it easier for buyers to buy. Many don't have PayPal accounts and many don't want one.

Re: eBay and Paypal separating

Unfortunately it doesn't look like things have changed. I have bought items recently using my charge card and they have been routed through paypal, nicely adding on 2 1/2 % to my bill. I live in Canada and most charge cards tack on a similar 2 1/2% but my Chase VISA does not, until Good o'l PayPal gets ahold of it. I am not impressed with eBay and PayPals B.S. separation!!!

5 year seperation agreement, expires July 2020, expect changes as we get close to that date.

Oh yeah, you'll have options other than PayPal, maybe even no direct PayPal but you will probably be outraged by what is offered and miss the "good old days" (as they are now).
