eBay Search is Still Broken, and you know why, too Many Items Specifics

I searched for " Square stainless-steel bowls, and the first ones that came up were round, I think few ones on top were roundScreenshot 2022-08-06 201457.jpg

Since that would be very rare Ebay just never made a specific link to square bowls.  I've never seen one. Do you mean stainless steel square pans? If so, just type "stainless steel pan" into the search bar and include your dimensions so you can get square ones. Once you get the results go to the left side of the page and click on home/kitchen category. Good luck.

I don't think they are pans, but still, I should get no hits, not 2900 plus with most round, see Google search if not convinced

I jad no idea there was such a thing as a square bowl but sure enough there is. Google finds them on ebay too.  Though when I search ebay I don’t find any.

Suprise..….  Surprise….

Playing around with this further, ebay does show square bowls but they are down the page a bit. Perhaps the people selling the round bowls paid to promote them so they show above the square ones your searching for.

If you want results that match the exact phrase "square bowl", try this search:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=stainless-steel+square-bowl+-sink+-undermount+-fork+-...

I excluded a few specific non-bowl results that nonetheless contain the same "square bowl" keywords, such as sinks and forks.

Most of the results in that

May have posted here but another fine example of how search now works. Was researching a computer cable. On dot ca it brings up an assortment  of car bumper parts...and cables wayyyy down the list. On dot com cable comes up similar but cable comes up slightly higher. On Google the cable comes up no problem. eBay search has become brutal with anything vintage or discontinued.

Unfortunately, to e-Bay, a bowl is round and it does not ask you for "shape" of the bowl when you list one.  I just listed a bunch of pyrex and they have "round" qualities, but are not "round" per se.

10 years from now the search will still be all amuck.

Gotta love the search engine. Following is what I got from a search for "square stainless steel bowl" using keyword options of "exact words any order" and sorted by best match.

In the regular world when you use a ummm "generic" term like round as part of your personal search criteria it should get used in finding what you are ummm in theory searching for. That's how it works with Google. Would this make eBay irregular? Or just weird?

To quote a great philosopher...(computer voice). The door is ajar...The door is ajar.  The door is not a jar. It's a door. 🙂 In this case the door is round!!!!
