Hey eBay, You're getting paid pretty well to advertise our products overseas. And This is the reason you get paid to start with. Why would there be an extra fee for you to do the job you're paid to do to start with?
charging us to translate Languages overseas and calling it promoting? This is nothing more than an extortion plot.....
we've all been running along ok for some years now even with your excessively high Fees. But now you won't sell our stuff unless we succumb to your Promoting extortion? the only thing This will promote is the decline of eBay....
I have already been forced to list my items on other sites now. Which obviously with any quanity of people following suite, Will make your site weaker And their site's stronger.... This is very disrespectful behavior eBay....
I certainly hope you rethink your direction here....

You do NOT have to pay for promoted listings. It is totally up to you and Ebay does not sell anything. Promoted listings are usually for those selling in saturated categories where buyers may never see the items from a single seller because of 1,000 pages of the same stuff.

Wait a minute, Overseas Sales are supposed to be part of this deal, You've been charging the overseas buyers more money Than we're charging for our product for years. Now you're going to gouge us extra above and beyond your excessive fees? And then tell us it's a choice? I know our listings are now not being translated unless we pay for promotion. Obviously that does not qualify as a promotion nearly as much as it qualifies as Extortion.....

extortion (noun)
the practice of obtaining something, especially money, through force or threats
eBay has never used force or threats to obtain (or event attempt to obtain) fees for promoting listings from me.

My sales are severely threatened if I don't succumb to the forced translation promotion..... To use your definition.....
And I sell Vintage Electronics in a world market. when I sell something for $300 my customer is charged close to $400. which means I can't even get what my item is actually valued at. And that's besides paying final value fees, Now I'm to pay promotion fees? Yes it is indeed Extortion....

I've sold products (mainly vintage items) to buyers all over the world, and all directly from ebay's main site, not the international ones, and I've never had a problem. I think you'd be surprised how many foreigners speak and read English these days. In China its practically mandatory to learn English.
The question is, how much is ebay charging for your translations? Either way, again, you don't need to translate anything to sell directly from the U.S site. The foreign buyers mostly come to the U.S version site over their own. Sure there's an ebayUK, that no one uses anyway.
From my experience, foreigners love American products, and they will pay an arm and a leg to get them.

If that is indeed the case, my definition would be that you have chosen to sell items that are not a good fit for the site unless you pay voluntary fees.

I can tell by the way your feedbacks were suddenly switched here that I'm certainly not going to get anywhere here....
Earlier tonight luckthewinner had 14 feedback and second chance sales had 989 now luckythewinner has 989 and second chance sales has 14. But who has 78 items for sale and 14 feedback? pretty rare, And who has 989 feedback and zero purchases? Time for me to go.....

You don't seem to understand how eBay works, You are offering your Items internationally through the GSP (something that is TOTALLY your option), buyers are paying you your selling price AND they are pre-paying the import taxes and duties that will be payable at time of import. Those extra funds do not go to eBay, they go to the buyers government coffers (minus a small handling fee to GSP for Administration) and to Pitney-Bowes to cover the cost of shipping from Kentucky to the destination.
GSP is OPTIONAL, you can ship Internationally direct if you wish. It is NOT a "promotional fee".

You might want to check those figures again. You have it wrong. But what does any of that have to do with this thread?
BTW, you might want to read up on the use of Posting IDs, Buying IDs and Selling IDs.
Then you should learn how to read feedback.

Again, there are many posters using a POSTING ID.
Low feedback on these boards means absolutely NOTHING. You can check their posting profile and see how many times they have posted.
Most posters to these boards know more about Ebay then 90% of Ebay employees.

I don't use promoted listings or any of that fancy stuff. I just shipped off two sales to the Netherlands yesterday, so obviously my things are being seen internationally despite that.

It's very cruel isn't it.
