eBay Promoted Listings SCAM BEWARE

There is currently a promotion by eBay for sellers to receive $100 credit when they try promoted listings under the “Advertising” tab. I thought that was a good deal so I launched a campaign. It went through $100 pretty quick, resulted in almost no sales…. but whatever, it was free! Or so I thought.

You must click an arbitrary button to opt in to this promotion. I didn’t know that because the button WILL NOT LOAD on any of the browsers on my phone.

This promotion is not automatically applied which is incredibly ridiculous and frustrating by eBay to maliciously target sellers like this. I still cannot click the button and I am constantly having trouble getting in contact with a real person. I don’t think making this button impossible to press and burying the promotion was an accident. Unfortunately it seems I will have to contact my state’s attorney general because that appears to be the only way to get a companies attention these days since they’ve almost entirely abandoned Customer Support.

I talked with support and was able to finally opt into the offer.

I had to use a different browser and incognito mode to activate the offer. Incredibly frustrating but at least I can actually use the promotion. And hopefully his can help someone else.

1) Any "Deal" Ebay offers almost always benefits them.

2) Good Luck contacting your SA. They won't do anything.

It sounds like you know what happened by not opting in and launching the campaign before accepting the offer.   I imagine this voided the offer and ability to then use the button.

How did that void the offer? I certainly did not purposely launch a campaign when the button disappears immediately... I only launched a campaign BECAUSE I THOUGHT I OPTED IN. There was no button to press.

It was my first time using a promoted listing like that. I find it incredibly offensive you would suggest I would purposely lose out on $100. That's just incredibly insane. I will see what support can do, then contact my state's attorney general depending on what they say.

You're telling me I have to click a button that DOES NOT SHOW UP, and if I don't click that button and try the offer, then it DISSAPEARS? Yeah, that's ridiculous.

@jahe149822

Thanks for the heads up.

These sorts of eBay promotions (or any "promotions" for that matter) remind me of that famous quote, by Ronald Reagan, of the nine most terrifying words in the English language:

"I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

eBay seller since 1999. This is a posting ID.

I'm glad they were able to let you opt in after the campaign had started.  I certainly wasn't claiming didn't opt in first on purpose--that's ridiculous.  I reread my post and it doesn't say that at all.  I was just stating that's probably why the button wasn't showing after the fact.

I have the same offer on my account which states to opt in to take advantage of the offer and there is a link (in blue) that says "claim your offer".   So if anyone wants to take advantage of this, I'd look for that before doing anything else.
