eBay MOTORS GUARANTEED FIT PROGRAM- Multiple returns

So, ebays new Guaranteed fit program in ebay motors is a joke. We are recieving multiple returns monthly with the customer stating the item doesnt fit their application, and that the listing says it fits. We specifically list only part numbers on most of our items. Now ebay has created this program which has given customers a way to ensure it fits their vehicle, yet its quite common nowadays that the information is wrong.

Is anyone else experiencing this? We've implemented a restocking fee on all items returned to somewhat save our costs. Most items are returned with reasoning of "doesnt fit" or "wrong part" when in our listing there is no application list.

Looking for some sort of accountability here or recommendations. We cant keep eating returns from these situations.

Even before the "green checkmark" guaranteed fit this was happening.   eBay steered buyers toward adding their vehicle-TO-their "ebay garage".  Once that was done, when they searched for a part, SUPPOSEDLY the parts brought up in search would fit their car.  Which seldom worked like it should.
But, buyers that shouldn't be working on cars, believed it....thus lots of returns blamed on the seller, instead of on eBay for misleading them into it.
NOW, it's even worse with all of the eBay adds stating Guaranteed Fit.
Sellers don't have to participate, but buyers don't know that.

All of this is geared toward big salvage yards with automated listing submissions with hollander interchange.
And aftermarket "replacement" sellers with 100,000+ listings.
Ebay is trying to be Rock Auto.  When in reality ebay motors is mostly a swap meet.  People come here to buy what they can't find elsewhere, and/or CHEAP.
It won't last long. eBay cannot control the search, the interchange, and most importantly,,,,what info the seller inserts in the listings.

eBay MOTORS GUARANTEED FIT PROGRAM- Multiple returns

Here's an example of A LOT of what goes on also.
I just bought a Wix Filter by searching for the part number.
MOST of the listings I found were not WIX, and were not WIX p/n.
But, they were listed as interchange (would fit)....SELLER INFO...and cheaper than WIX.
SO, I took the different aftermarket p/n and searched for it (looking for even cheaper).
After doing that several times with different p/n's....all claiming to interchange with the WIX p/n.
I was down to super cheap off brands.
And a vast amount I found, claiming interchange, were flat out different and I knew they would not fit.
BUT, I'm not your average idiot. I'm a special kind of idiot. I knew better.
So, no returns here, I bought the WIX.

This type of searching happens alot.  The buyer doesn't know, is going off of sellers information that they are not even going to buy from.... and end up with something that doesn't fit.
And given how customers think now?  It's always somebody else's fault.

I definitely agree with everything you stated. We sell overstock and old inventory from our mobile repair business, many times these items have been on the shelf so long we have no idea what they fit anymore and for that reason, we only list part numbers which is now leaving us open to the possibility of customer buying the wrong items. Its unreal we are expected to take it to the chin when some of these items literally net ebay more profit than us after fees(especially promoted) and shipping, but, there's no where else to take some of these items other than the garbage or scrap yard at times.

@kingsmobiletruckrepair
I've always wanted to list parts via part number only.
I mean, just enter the p/n in the title, nothing else, and be done with it...LOL
But, here's the issue. About the time you think nobody reads anything, nobody understands anything, and....WHAT? Did you not even look at the PICTURES??!!
Yep, about the time you decide all that......
You can go check out a few Big Salvage Yard listings.  They have somewhat automated listings from their Yard Software.   They have 50,000 listings with nothing more than a photo of the vehicle, no description, but...they have the interchange.
Then look at what they sold in the last month.   And realize the work you do on 500 listings sells more in a day then they do in a month.
Then you realize,  Maybe you're not doing so bad after all.  (OR, at least that's hope I guess)
