eBay Final Value Fee and Final Value Shipping Fee Increases

Just saw that eBay's Final Value Fee charges for the categories of Books, DVDs & Movies, and Music have gone up from the already high 10% to 12%. The really sad thing about this is that just this morning I was thinking it would be great if eBay surprised everyone by reducing the fees they charge, thanks to more efficient operations. Instead, even "tithing" isn't enough now -- plus we get socked with PayPal fees on top of the FVF and FVF shipping fees. (Remember when PayPal's slogan was "Always Free?") I wish there were some way to send complaints to eBay, but apparently venting on these discussion boards is the only way to do so...which probably is pointless.

eBay announced this in the 2018 summer seller update and again talked about it again in 2018 fall seller update.  All sellers have been informed of this change a few different ways and locations.  I understand your thinking was somehow that eBay would reduce fees but I am not sure where you got that from?

Paypal fees have not really changed in several years, and FVFs on shipping was announced in July 2011.

My problem isn't with not knowing about the increase. My problem is that the increase is more bad news for sellers.

Good news for sellers!

We are raising the fee in media from 10% to 12%. This increase is needed to pay for competent programmers to fix our horribly broken book catalog. (Yeah...that sounds believable. They'll fall for it.)

While we realize this fee increase may not help your bottom line, it will help us whip this crummy catalog into shape and make Ebay a better place for everyone, while enabling US to increase our bottom line at the expense of yours.

Don't get too many returns in relation to your peers or you will be paying even more than that.

The lead-in sentence on updates that always gets me is when it starts out "You asked and we listened."  Usually it precedes an announcement for something that absolutely no one would have asked for.

Once upon a time the FVF on media was 13%. Looks like eBay had a change of heart 😞

Looks like I'll be raising the price of my $5 CDs by 15 cents to cover the cost.

I fondly recall the days when ebay thought they could capture part of Amz's listings and all media was a nickel to list
