eBay Customer Service Representative Gave Incorrect Advice

Apologies if this is the wrong section as I'm new to posting here.  Long story short, is there any specific path or person to talk to about customer service representatives giving wrong information? A customer service representative recently gave me advice that directly lead to a lost case in the resolution center. Normally, if a case doesn't go my way, I'd just accept the result and move on, but in this instance the rep advised me to do something that directly caused the case to be found in the buyer's favor. Now I've got a lost sale and an item (a sports trading card) that has depreciated over $100 in value since the sale was initially made.

I've been an eBay member for over 15 years and am a Top Rated Seller. I'd like to know if there's any way to be made whole due to the representative's mistake or if there's at least a place to file a complaint.

Re: eBay Customer Service Representative Gave Incorrect Advice

Yes, I'm sure eBay's actual liability in this instance is 0%. It's more me wondering if there's any mechanism in place to make disgruntled sellers whole, the same way that Amazon will often give buyers and sellers free Amazon credit if something goes wrong on their end. They already scrubbed my record clean of any demerits due to the forced refund as an acknowledgement of their mistake and returned my final value fee.

I've sold $16,000 worth of merchandise on the platform since lockdown started, which is small potatoes compared to power sellers on here but still something, especially since it's the first time I've really used the platform for a sustained period of time. I've already moved some business over to other sites because of wonky buyer return requests and a general sense from other sports card sellers that eBay is not great about seller protection, especially in our market.

@dragon121211

You can send an email message to eBay.

Here is the link:

https://www.ebay.com/help/account/contacting-ebay-customer-service/contacting-ebay-customer-service?...

The email option is at the bottom of the link.

Or you can reach out to customer service using social media:

eBay on Facebook

eBay on Twitter

Social media worked for me. Got an answer and resolution to my issue fairly quickly.  The CSR ended up calling me. Wouldn't hurt to leave a contact number.

I am not sure if the email link is still there. Due to COVID-19, it may be removed.  I recommend using social media.

Or you could try appealing your case, here is the link:

Hope this helps!
