eBay Category changes.

I am beyond angry with eBay.  I am not allowed here to say WHO I am or what I have been to eBay.  I sell about $70,000 on eBay a year.  Sometimes quite a bit more.  It depends on the market.  We do sell antiques and collectibles and what eBay has done with our categories is criminal.  Let me stop and say -- I have been with eBay since 1999.   eBay has done some crappy stuff during that time but we have always found a way around it.  This I cannot fix!    I plan to list more on Etsy now even though it is not something I want to do.  I have loved and supported eBay even when a lot of my peers have not.  This very stupid move on eBay's part will destroy the collectible marketplace and maybe that is there intention.  WE ARE NOT IMPORTANT!! They have sent us a very clear message to that effect.

Re: eBay Category changes.

somebody sold the geniuses that run eBay on going away from categories and using item specifics for searches, as close as I can tell.  The reason you're having to add all these things is they're going to make people check through menus to search for things instead.  For instance they removed individual scale categories from model trains, and made the scale an item specific.

I actually would be all for it if it meant more people could actually find my items, but so far it's been the reverse.  Things worked ... not great but good enough through March and now they're sinking in a hurry.

I think what a lot of people don't realize is how effective eBay's search was. In 2017, I got so disgusted with Amazon's search, I started buying here almost exclusively simply because I could type something into the eBay search bar and find exactly what I was looking for in no time.

The one thing that has been consistent on eBay for all these years (until now) was that a buyer could find what they wanted, without having to jump through a bunch of hoops. IMHO, eBay is greatly underestimating how buyer impatience can impact sales.

I've seen an unprecedented number of frustrated, confused, and angry buyers in these forums over the past 2 months talking about their missing saved searches, inability to find items,  deleted watchlists, categories gone that they regularly shopped in.

This is impossible to ignore - if buyers can't find what they're looking for anymore, is it any mystery that sales are down across the board?

Searching for items used to be very easy here, I am grateful for ebay because they did put me in "contact" with so many great sellers of my interests who own their own direct websites, the same for Amazon as well, eliminating the middle venue and purchasing directly from the sellers.

I collect a lot of stuff but during the pandemic it's been needlepoint canvas and kits.  Keeps me busy.  Starting yesterday arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh just junk and crewel/counted cross stich/embroidery/etc...mostly NOT needlepoint.  Just a waste of my time.

"Good luck to you, took a look at your items by the way, you have wonderful items and superb listings."

HOW did you see their listings...I have no way other then to write down the sellers name and go to Advanced Search, which is tedious.
