I am beyond angry with eBay. I am not allowed here to say WHO I am or what I have been to eBay. I sell about $70,000 on eBay a year. Sometimes quite a bit more. It depends on the market. We do sell antiques and collectibles and what eBay has done with our categories is criminal. Let me stop and say -- I have been with eBay since 1999. eBay has done some crappy stuff during that time but we have always found a way around it. This I cannot fix! I plan to list more on Etsy now even though it is not something I want to do. I have loved and supported eBay even when a lot of my peers have not. This very stupid move on eBay's part will destroy the collectible marketplace and maybe that is there intention. WE ARE NOT IMPORTANT!! They have sent us a very clear message to that effect.

I think most of us sellers feel the same. Not sure what will happen from here. It used to be fun, and now it is mostly work with all the stuff that has to be filled in to sell an item that might get one bid or if any. I hope the buyers can find what they are looking for through the thousands of other listing competing clumped in to one category. It was much nicer having to choose where you wanted your item listed, and a better chance of being found.

Agree 100% I started to seek other selling outlets about 11 months ago seeing the direction I believe they are heading. Saddens me now, I truly loved eBay. Anyway, I keep the account open, hoping for new management. Honestly, I hope I am wrong, I think this is the plan. If so, so be it. Their site their rules.
One thing for sure, I will NOT but new items on eBay.
Good luck to you, took a look at your items by the way, you have wonderful items and superb listings.

No kidding! GREAT photography. I has a love for that donut pitcher.

I understand your anger. But.....category change/Item Specific changes aren't new. eBay's been doing them for a while now. I'm guessing this may be the first time your categories were effected. I've been through this before. It's no fun correcting the incorrect categories and filling in the required item specifics. But.....I've done it, and I will do it this time as well. And collectors are resourceful. They will figure out how to find your stuff using keywords and item specific filters. ebay has NO desire to destroy the collectibles marketplace. And this will NOT destroy it, just as the previous changes did not destroy those categories.
I know it can be hard to see it right now, but this isn't the end of antique pottery and glass or anything else.

I agree as well. I started selling on ebay in 98 and it used to be around 90% of my online revenue. Around two years ago I started to feel that ebay was changing away from small sellers of OAK items and started to diversify my online selling. ebay has always made silly changed and sellers yell but the dust settles and everyone gets back to business. This one feels different. I think they have jumped the shark. It will be interesting to see where everything lands after Q4

Some item specifics now asked for make no sense.
I’m selling a loveseat. It asks for height, width, depth. That’s ✅ ok but asking for weight!
Who knows the weight of their sofa?
Ridiculous! Wasting my time is not alright with me in forcing me to answer this question.
Does any human buy a sofa based on weight?
Am I supposed to carry my loveseat to my bathroom scale by myself & weight it?
I too have been selling here since 1998.
Very depressing changes.

I respectfully disagree. This buyer and seller since 1999 for vintage items, is very resourceful and my buying in certain categories have grounded to a halt. Most notably Christmas category. Explained in other post, not going to go into details.
I agree if you are searching for items with an obvious key word, hey, eBay is business as usual. Problem is many sellers do not know what they have nor have the skills to describe accurately. Not blaming them, no one can know everything.
The previous tools, in my humble opinion were more conducive to listing vintage items.
As a result, I have been looking elsewhere to buy.
That's my experience at least. For those that think all is well, that's fine to. It seems there is a lot of concern as evidence by the 28000+ views on their pinned thread regarding this issue.

i am afraid you are correct this one is not business as usual. The buyers and sellers of vintage items will go else where.

You'd be surprised, actually. I work at a store that sells furniture and we get that question a lot-- people want to know how easy it will be to move if they want to move houses or even just relocate the sofa from one room to another.

Heck, the few times I've been furniture shopping, I sure heft the stuff. How am I supposed to know if I can haul it up a flight of stairs or move it around when I need to?

What changes are in the works with Collectibles & Antiques. I have NOT received anything from eBay. I think it's because they are SICK of me. I haven't been able to list for 3-4 months because of the fiasco with Safari. I have sold 0 for about 2 months. Apple is finally helping me try a work-around. So far so good. I have been listing for the past few days. That's all I've been doing. Now I have a feeling I've been spinning my wheels. I've been with eBay for 14 years, but it may be time to say goodbye. I've been thinking about Ruby Lane which might be better suited to what I sell. eBay has completely ignored me & my situation since the problem with Safari started. I don't really think there is a legitimate Safari problem. I think it was created by eBay because they receive an "incentive" from the Google folks & want rid of Safari. Apple is too committed to Customer Service whereas eBay doesn't even know how to spell it. I'm starting to feel embarrassed to even be associated with eBay. Their reputation is the pits, but then I think you already know that. Thanks for listening!

I think what a lot of people don't realize is how effective eBay's search was. In 2017, I got so disgusted with Amazon's search, I started buying here almost exclusively simply because I could type something into the eBay search bar and find exactly what I was looking for in no time.
The one thing that has been consistent on eBay for all these years (until now) was that a buyer could find what they wanted, without having to jump through a bunch of hoops. IMHO, eBay is greatly underestimating how buyer impatience can impact sales.
I've seen an unprecedented number of frustrated, confused, and angry buyers in these forums over the past 2 months talking about their missing saved searches, inability to find items, deleted watchlists, categories gone that they regularly shopped in.
This is impossible to ignore - if buyers can't find what they're looking for anymore, is it any mystery that sales are down across the board?

Exactly. For a lot of people, it's a major factor when it comes to picking a piece of furniture.
