after opening an unpaid case, just close it and offer the 2nd chance to someone, or do you have to wait the 6 days. if not, then canceling the transaction, could the original winner leave negative feedback. i've sent a message and invoice, nothing.

If you have already opened an unpaid item case, then you no longer have the option to just cancel the transaction. After you file an unpaid item claim, your only immediate option is to mark the item as paid. If the buyer doesn't pay within 4 days, you get the option to close the case by giving the buyer a nonpayment strike. If you don't wait the full 4 days and close the case, then the buyer can pay, they can leave bad feedback. and you won't get any credit for your final value fee.

You'll run into a dilemma if you cancel the transaction and have to choose among the 3 choices. Have those choices changed yet? I heard it may have because of the Seller Update.
Anyway, if you choose the "wrong reason" you might get in trouble with ebay. I actually wouldn't know what reason would you have to choose to cancel in your situation.
