how can I protect myself?

reading about people who steal items here with impunity

You can block specific buyers by username.

But you can't block all "ugly" buyers or all "dishonest" buyers.

YES. Go to your Seller Hub, click on Blocked Bidders. Look for the hot (blue) words 'Buyer Blocks' and hit them all when that window opens. Later, you'll learn who else to block.

Good luck!

thanks!

I am looking to block buyers that file a lot of SNAD

If eBay is forcing us to refund fraudulent buyers can't we at least try and control

the obvious ones?

Unfortunately, those are the ones @inhawaii  referred to.

No... NAD abusers, Feedback abusers, INR abusers, etc., are NOT on those lists.

You'll learn later (sometimes the hard way) how and when to block who. For now, you can stay this  safe, though.

ok how about this

if a buyer wins your auction and they have ( lets say) 0 feedback....

and they signed on the day before

can you cancel that sale to that buyer?

No, not after they've won your auction. But why would you want to?

I have lots of 0 buyers who just signed up so they can buy my item.  It's not unusual.  It's actually very common.

When you list an item, there is an option to block 0 bidders/buyers, but again, why would you want to?

Nope, there is no option for that........you can block buyers with varying # of strikes (non payments), but new buyers you can't block.

As far as completely protecting yourself.....you can't.  Best thing to do is pick a price comfort level and don't list anything over that.  I will point out that if you pay $5 for something and sell it for $300......and lose the $300, in reality, you've only lost $5......which is the way we look at it.........

Any buyer can steal any item from any seller at any time by filing a false claim. You can small steps to mitigate this, but you cannot prevent it. Period.

Every seller must make his own decision based on his experience and his tolerance for risk.

no one can afford to lose --lets say $500

I know I can't

but I need to sell---so its a difficult situation..

the threads I read in here about buyers blatantly ripping off sellers??

I simply cannot understand why eBay does not protect their sellers.

in the long run it makes no sense
