i had my first transaction few days ago the buyer has received item and tracking shows delivered. i emailed her today to make sure she got it and to rewuest feedback ...she said she was happy with item but doesnt see a feedback option...do i have to turn feedback on? im new to ebay

Feedback is voluntary, I understand as a new seller you would like some feedback. But asking buyers for feedback can sometimes get you feedback, but not what you want. Feedback will come, sell some more or make some purchases to get a few.

I remember when if you asked Alexa to change the channel, she had to go to the TV and turn the knob. ~ iowa_east_coast

I'm sure you would not like a nice, big red negative that says:

HERE'S THE FEEDBACK YOU BUGGED ME FOR!

Or one that details just what you did wrong.

Remember this, feedback is voluntary.

No, there is nothing you have to turn on in order for your buyer to leave feedback. She is probably new like you and just doesn't know how yet. Maybe she will figure it out, maybe she won't. But I agree with the others. You leave feedback for others and hope they will too, but don't ask your buyers for it.

Just a thought, OP, I hope you are familiar with how the site works, how Buyer Protection policies, etc. work. The more knowledge you have as a seller, the more effective you will be.

There are Selling Help Pages to read, and also the Selling Board, that can be a great help to you.

Unless eBay follow-up procedures have changed, the buyer may eventually receive an email from eBay, reminding your buyer to leave feedback, and may even demonstrate how the new feedback system works.

Actually, while I am not sure, I believe a seller can opt out of having Ebay send a reminder email to leave feedback.

Hopefully someone will be along to confirm or deny this.

Congrats on your first sale!

Feedback will come. Not everyone leaves it. And getting messages from a seller asking for it can rub a buyer the wrong way. As you are a new seller, I'd give you a pass and understand your anxiousness.

A few weeks ago I purchased a common item from a well established seller (over 10,00 selling FB). About a week after delivery I got a message about how important feedback is and "urging" me to leave feedback - and when I did they'd leave me some in return. It really struck a nerve for several reasons.

It did not sound like the OP was asking for feedback. This sounded more like their buyer was having trouble figuring out how to leave feedback. Or is there some invisible ink in the original post I am not seeing?

If it works, sell it. If it works well, sell it for more. If it doesn't work, quadruple the price and sell it as an antique.

Also, don't email her to be sure she got it. Tracking shows it was delivered, that is all you need to know.

Rest assured, IF she didn't get it, or IF there is an issue, she WILL let you know.

Don't go looking for trouble! And congrats on your very first sale!
