I use ebay to make purchases occasionally. But every so often I sell something.
In this particular case, I bought a retail game console (not on ebay) that came with a few digital codes for games that I already own or didn't appeal to me. So i figured to sell them to recoup some of the console cost.
I posted a listing for one of these digital game codes with the immediate delivery via Ebay message. The item sold for average going price and I ebay messaged the buyer the redemption code.
Almost three month later, i get a paypal notice that the transaction is being disputed by the buyer for "unauthorized access". I did provide all the information that i had to the papal resolution center including the ebay listing URL and PDF upload of the ebay message.
The case was favored for the buyer and i was forced to refund the transaction.
I really am at a loss for words. Is there any recourse for me?

Neither eBay nor PayPal nor, apparently, the buyer's credit card company has seller protection for digitally delivered goods. With a few exceptions, digitally delivered goods are supposed to be listed as a Classified Ad, which your listing was not. I wouldn't call too much attention to myself at this point.
Read eBay's digitally delivered goods policy here:
https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/digitally-delivered-goods-policy?id=4...
The only way I'm aware of to win an "unauthorized use" claim is to provide proof of shipping to a buyer's address. Apparently, no one considers a link to the item listing on eBay or a pdf of an email to be proof that the code was shipped.
I'd say you're out of luck on this one, unfortunately.

No, you have no recourse. It is prohibited to sell virtual items here and you have no seller protection when you do so.
In order to dispute an "unauthorized purchase claim" you have to prove physical delivery with tracking. Virtual delivery can be faked so it is not acceptible.
