Did you mean:

buyer did not want to win auction?

I've been trying to sell a particular item for awhile now (it's listed for over $100).

Mid week I received a bid on the item (it was the only bid) and that buyer ended up winning the item.

Now the buyer sent me this message:

"Did not want to win this auction. It was a mistake. Can you cancel?"

This is really annoying as it would be nice to sell the item but should I go ahead and cancel, do I open an unpaid item case, or something else?

Thank you

Just go ahead and cancel, so you can relist right away.

Cancel and move on. Not worth pressing the issue.

Cancel, choosing the option of "Buyer requested," and move on. Add the deadbeat to your Blocked Bidder list (here) so that he doesn't make the same "mistake" again.
