blocking a buyer

How do you go about blocking a buyer ?  I sold a dual cassette player / recorder and they returned it because  of one of the doors not opening when the release button is pressed. when I got it back it worked just fine as it did before i sent it. I have heard some buyers do this to use it then send it back.
