I listed an item for $19.99 with free shipping, and also added the best offer feature. A buyer sends a $5.00 offer, the item costs approx. $5.00 to ship.
I keep getting offers like this all the time, but it's not the problem. In the past when Ebay wasn't charging a FVF on shipping the buyer knew right away how much shipping cost for an item, especially if you overcharged them, apparently not today.
That's not my real issue, the buyer can dream all they want to! The problem is it's 75% off of my listed price and Ebay has a message reading, "send an counter offer that's fair to you and your buyer". The price that I listed it for I believed was fair. How can I even send something that's fair to me and the buyer, when the initial offer is unfair in the first place.?

If you don't like low offers........
Don't add Best Offer.
Set an auto-decline amount so you don't see offers below your minimum.

Just send an offer you think is reasonable. You should consider setting up an automatic decline threshold if you don't want to deal with super-low offers.

If you added B/O to the page, that means you're willing to consider offers. If you have a floor......put the max you want to decline in the little box and don't stress over it.
I don't mind dealing with the $5 offers, which I can usually get up to around what I want for the item.......but if I'm not in the mood to dicker, I just decline.......
Stop trying to "think" this out.....fair/unfair isn't important.......

Offers are for the item price only and so the S&H shouldn't be a factor. However, if you are offering free shipping in the listing, I would not accept the offer. Counter-offer or decline.
