are your sales predictable?

In general do you have a good idea what will sell, and have relatively few surprises? For myself there are some books on Amazon that one can tell are pretty good bets due to their ranking system. Ebay has closed listings to study, of course, but I find sales here really random and hard to predict.  Even combined orders are often a puzzling mix of subjects.  It would be really nice if sales were more predictable here!

I've been surprised by just how well/how quickly some things have sold here.  A few months back I listed a couple of retired Jellycat stuffed animals that I'd picked up from a store clearance sale for a few bucks each.  They racked up over 100 views in just a couple of days and sold shortly after that.  I'd been expecting them to sell, but not that quickly!

Mine are normally predictable,  but since  my #1 & 2 markets are Florida and east Texas sales have been slow. Thanks Harvey and Irma.  End of hurricne season can't get here fast enough.

Selling used stuff, it's hard to tell what will sell.

I've had some items that I thought might sell quick, and they just set there. I've had other items sell as fast as I hit the publish button.

It all depends on the buyer and what they are looking for.

Have a great day.

@keziak

Cessna window latches,

They sold like hot cakes... wish I had a truck full.

Carbs, mags, starters, alternators... all good.

Not much luck selling my wifes "granny panties"  ( that was a joke...)

The times are hard, no matter what the news says.

People are buying Needs not Wants.

My parts may set on ebay for a year or more, but when someone needs one, there I am.

I used to be able to predict what my income would be. Circa 2008, but since then I can not predict what will sell and what won't.  Gold and silver always sell, very old toys and some named pieces of glass and pottery. It is also seasonal. Boots and sweaters go great right now. I have given up predicting what fickle ebay sales will do.

Dear God, please help me to be
the person my dog thinks I am.

Problem is even when the season passes - due to the destruction - people in those areas won't be running to Ebay for most of what they need!

I'm down 40% from what I sold before the hurricanes as Texas and Florida were a large number of my sales. But I have my house and am grateful for what sale I do make.
