Condition, condition, condition. Always condition....

Modified or fake etc...... and a lot of other variables....

Re: antiques stamps

I use Scott catalogs to identify postage stamps.   There are other catalogs available,  But Scott is tried and

true for many years and covers every country.

There is no accurate catalog to determine value.    A catalog printed yearly is inaccurate and obsolete before the ink is dry.

MY prices are based on what other sellers are asking and availability on eBay since I buy and sell on ebay.

Rare is not always valuable.

Valuable is not always rare.

Some very rare stamps are worthless if there are no buyers.

Research items sold on ebay.    Not just listed for sale,   actually sold.

If a seller has your stamp listed at $100.00 but the last 10 sales averaged $10.00?     The value current value

of the stamp is $10.00 and NOT $100.00

The actual marketplace determines value.     There are buying prices and there are selling prices.    The difference

between  what a seller will pay and what he will sell for can be enormous.

As always,  Your mileage may vary.

Here are a few things I would consider:

Knowing precisely what they are and describing them accurately

Knowing whether there is any demand for them

Knowing what the accepted grading scale is and grading them accurately

Knowing how to price them

Re: antiques stamps

I use Google on a regular basis to find stamps that are difficult to price.

Re: antiques stamps

I get it.  Just thought it might be one of the tools they could consider, as it sounds like OP may not be very familiar with that category.

Why not start with a study of Completed Listings on eBay.  You can see what sold, and for how much.  You can study listings to see how the stamps that sold were presented, and vice-versa.

You can devise other searches, but here's a simple and obvious one to start with:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/Stamps/260/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=queen+victoria+ceylon&_in_kw=1&_ex_kw=&_sa...

Re: antiques stamps

Have great clear macro scans of both front and back. Stamps are tiny but you need those pics HUGE showing all detail up close, especially with classic era stamps. Be sure and note all details of condition including even the tiniest flaws. Do not "grade" them based on your opinions on centering etc. Don't try and over-sell them at all. Best of luck~
