Not sure if this is OK to ask but here goes. My sources of inventory for books has collapsed.  I'm trying to figure out how to get more inventory. Ideally I'd like to find people with a bunch of saleable books which I could inspect at their house  and pay with cash. I can't figure out how to do that on FB or whether something like that could be put on some local community page.

I would start with searching "book selling groups" on the Book of Faces

You could also post an ISO on the General Marketplace

Check "Friends of the Library" groups in your area for Book Sales

Just a few ideas ... good luck

I fear that you are not going to find many people that want you, a stranger, in their home for any amount of time. Even food delivery companies are just leaving deliveries on the doorstep to limit ALL contact as much as possible.

If we DON"T follow recommendations, you may find a glut of "inventory" - at estate sales - just check the local obituaries.

One of the problems is that there are a great many library sales in the area, all canceled.

thanks for your perspective, I had not thought of that.

I have accepted the fact that my sourcing for new items is over for now.  This may be a lost year for many.  If we are lucky, it will only be financially.

I checked your location and went on estatesales.net.  There's plenty of estate sales in your area and when I put in "books", there's plenty of them (depends what you are looking for).

You can usually get a lot of books rather cheap at sales.  I have a whole bookcase of books in my personal collection that are from estate sales and I probably spent just a few hundred on them all.

Forgive me if I sounded too stringent or "preachy".....................I have been in TOTAL isolation for 2 weeks now and I think the strain is beginning to manifest itself. I am actually ashamed by my reaction and output on another forum - completely unlike myself to be so reactionary and downright nasty. Usually sarcasm suffices when I need to make a point against some nonsense - but not last evening. Can't remember the last time I typed, let alone uttered, some of the words I used during that debacle of a conversation...................
