Hey all, I won an auction last night and made the payment an hour later via credit card. I woke up to find an email from ebay telling me my account had been identified as hacked and my password needed to be reset, which was actually not the case. I reset the password via my email and phone.
I am a bit unclear now what happens as although I made the payment the email notifying me of this "fraud" says I would be refunded any transactions made fraudulantely. I called ebay but was unable to get a straight answer as to whether i will still receive the item - I was told if I had made the payment i should receive the item, but as the sale was later apparently cancelled by ebay I'm unclear.
Could anyone explain if i will still receive the item?
I understand the need to protect users but its super frustrating to have been excited at winning an auction only for it to be cancelled. I guess this happened as I used a new delviery address...

I would say go into eBay and change your password right away. Don't go in from a email, you may have been scammed. If you cannot get into your account call right away.

When you purchased a item they recieved your email addy from paypal and may have used this to send a fake email. Not saying this is the case but it sounds fishy.

My account was not hacked though! The email was from ebay - it was genuine. Ebay mistakenly blocked my account thinking it was hacked when it wasn't. Now I don't know whether I will receive the items I bought....

The email may have been phishing for your password and was fake.

If you ebay and PayPal password are the same get in there and change that to. Go in from the site not a email
Note. Never have the same password on eBay and PayPal.

If the email was genuine I would think it it would also be in your email eBay messages,

With respect I dont think you have listened to what I am saying. I have spoken with ebay on the phone and they did mistakenly identify my account as hacked. This is not about a phishing attempt.

it was in my ebay messages also!

I may be wrong but I would still follow the advice. Better safe then sorry. Sometimes CS tells you what you want to hear.
Can you look at the address on the email, the hidden address. Does it look right?

If it was in your messages and from eBay then it is probably legit. Something popped it up as fraudulent.

Was it your messages as from eBay or from the seller?

This sounds like the SELLER was identified as being fraudulent, not you.
And because you were in a transaction with that seller, eBay warned you about it and cancelled the transaction.
eBay's communications can be sorely lacking in clarity, as we all know 😞
If the item was ended and you were refunded, you will NOT be getting the item.
If you were not refunded, open an Item Not Received Case as soon as you can.

Thanks you are probably right. Sorry OP for the confusion but I wanted to make sure you were safe.
