I know it feels like ebay is micromanaging but I read an article in which a former ebay employer stated sellers metrics include the percentage of "abandoned carts" vs. "carts sold". I actually am interested in knowing if my items are in people's carts as my sales have not been great so if I feel like lowering the price, I will. If not, I just delete the email

I understand both views here, yours and the OPs.
Personally, I have all these nonsense emails filtered out of my email box. I hardly ever look at my inbox inside of ebay as any messages I received come to my email inbox and that's all I'm concerned with.

We reduced prices on one block of items, based on eBay's cart "list", weeks ago,
zero sales conversion.
I believe the eBay cart/lower your asking price recommendation is a way to get store Sellers to sign up to use or review if already using promoted listings program.
Being a store with primarily OOAK listings, from time to time, we reduce BIN prices,
without eBay's suggestions and without using promoted listings or the markdown manager.
Less programs to manage or have go haywire or skew store/item search results.
And furthermore, at the time eBay creates the list, the items may HAVE BEEN in a cart and now are not, or MAYBE are in a cart, only being "watched" from the cart. Based on previous eBay analytics, the analysis could be tailored for certain results or at the time of gathering the information, possibly outdated.

Do you follow every message you get in real life?
Same on ebay - if it is not for you, ignore is your best friend.

Or already purchased, since who knows how long before the item was placed in the cart and the email.
I don't think a buyer would take too kindly after purchasing something and then 1/2 hour later getting an email saying that the seller lowered the price for you ........

I don't mind the messages that say your items are (or were) in carts. If I'm going to run a sale over the weekend it can help me determine what items or categories to target based on what's generating some interest.

This topic/message was posted/trashed/bashed/applauded last month, or maybe the month before.
Some are getting the message after the item ended. (sold, or otherwise)
eBay is just trying to be like the rest of the online world.
Everytime I add an item to my autoparts store online site to think about it, or save for later I get 2-3 emails from them. They offer me discounts I could get. The discount code was displayed when I started looking. The code discount they are offering is less than the discount that I already applied.
I gave the eBay ones a try where I had some wiggle room. Saw no results. Click, or 2 of the mouse, and the message is gone.
OMG why are you interfering in my sales directly now?
They are not interfering directly in your sales. They are just offering a suggestion to make money for eBay

I didnt even think that it just might be a 'watcher" competitor until you said that just now. Pretty sneaky of ebay I think. Now we can just watch as many competitors items as we can and then it will probably email them to reduce their prices too. Imagine if we did this for every seller selling the same items we are selling.

I don't get these EMAILS since I made a point of opting out of ALL their Surveys and Promotions.
So eBay sends them to my Message Box here on the site instead. Sneaky spammer tactics.
Ebay ... you just don't realize how ANGRY that makes me.
You're no better than the viagra spammers or the Nigerian 411 scammers.
All I can do is delete them unopened and unread. With Extreme Prejudice.

I just got this message a few minutes ago for the first time. Why don't they just give us a new column next to watchers so we know what's going on. Or are these just watchers? Sometimes when ebay p*sses me off, I do the opposite, and it has worked a few times. They said I should lower the prices on some of my items, so I raised them instead and several sold! Unfortunately it just meant that ebay got a larger cut.

Wow that's funny, I just got one of those messages...No eBay JUST NO!
The little things don't bother me.
