Hey guys!  I just started my ebay store a month ago and it's going ok.  I also started a YouTube channel promoting what I bought and sold mainly on ebay.  Can I send a message to my customers with my YouTube information to have them check out new inventory coming in?

Can you define precisely what you mean by "my customers", and what method you would use to "send a message"?

Spamming previous buyers is not the best way to start your Ebay career. If you have something they want, they'll find it the same way they found your previous item.

What I think is better is for you to include a flyer or a card in your customer purchases advertising your YouTube channel - also advertise it on other social media.  It gets around the 'no spam' ruling here but it will still spread the word.

You are not supposed to email your previous eBay buyers. But what you can do is embed your You Tube videos within your listing descriptions.

From eBay:

Videos must be embedded within item descriptions and are only allowed from sites on this list

• YouTube
• Vimeo
• Brightcove
• Ustream
• Screencast
• Kizoa
• DailyMotion

Also if you are attempting to create a You Tube following over time, what would be best is if you can make your You Tube channel match your eBay id. This creates continuity and over time your Ebay customers will be able to locate your You Tube channel and vice versa. Essentially you are cross promoting one with the other.

I think you'll find the OP's intent to put a YouTube link to her eBay store promotional video in her item descriptions is most likely not allowed.

Links in a description are only allowed for the following:

• Other eBay pages (eBay Messages, other eBay items, Stores pages, Follow Seller or Add to my Favorite Sellers)
• Product videos
• Freight shipping services approved by eBay
• Legally required information
• Credit for third-party providers

There's a lot of conflicting information in this thread. I really think you should thoroughly read the links I posted upthread concerning active content in eBay item listings and make your own decision on whether they are allowed. Clearly, your self-promotional YouTube video does not fit into any of the above five categories . . .

It would be to the people who buy stuff from my store. After the transaction is over and they have received their item, I would send them a thank you email through eBay and let them know I have a YouTube channel that has new items I’m adding to my store every week.

I have read it many times. 

The one that is most probable is product videos.

For instance this seller embedded the you tube video showing that the Apple Lisa that they were selling on eBay at auction was in working condition. In the end they sold that Apple Lisa for $55,000.00, if am remembering correctly.

I also know that a lot of eBay rare book sellers will create You Tube videos showing the specific rare book that they are selling in up close fine detail.

Sounds like spam to me... unless they sign up for your news letter.

Stick those links and videos on your social networks, and not in eBay emails after the sale.

Hi Melissa, sorry to say you cannot do what you are hoping because eBay doesn't allow spam, which they define as follows in the member contact policy:

"Spam (email)

We don't allow our members to send each other spam. "Spam" is an email (or part of an email) that is both unsolicited and commercial in nature.

Unsolicited means the person who received the message didn't request it. Commercial means the message discusses buying, selling, or trading of goods or services..."

 eBay discourages sellers from using contact information obtained from the eBay system to contact buyers outside the eBay system. 

Buyers on eBay are purchasing an item, not opting into your mailing list. 

However, printing up an attractive postcard or flyer to include in your packages would be completely acceptable IMHO.

^^ This. If they sign up for your newsletter, which is a store option, then you can send emails to those who signed up.
