I have been selling on ebay for 18 years and have never had a month like this ever! October usually starts picking up for me as I have some Christmas ornaments, holiday plates & platters, and decor items. Early shoppers start now for me and I have sold absolutely none of these items. I've revised any listings with required item specifics. I had stopped all promotions in June and my summer selling seemed not to be affected by it. Now with pay per click as their new thing is my lack of sales because I haven't signed up for that?

Our seasonal sales, which are usually brisk by now, are non-existent.
Maybe try running a sale? Have you listed anything new lately? Good luck!
P.s. It is not just you - many of us are equally concerned about Q4 sales, or lack thereof.

My sales have dropped significantly this month, but I don't believe it's the new pay-per-click as my promoted items still appear within the top of the search.
I converse with MANY retailers each week and they all tell me that sales are WAY down. We are still experiencing Covid issues, the government can't figure out what it's doing, business can't find help, and I think the public is just holding their money waiting for something to happen.
I guess we just have to find a way to hang in there...

Well, if new goods are going to be in short supply, that ought to bode well for ebay sellers of used items - that is, if the USPS/Fedex/UPS don't get backed up like they did last year.

I'm in the same boat....sales have been horrible since COVID hit last year. Didn't make enough to cover store fees either....EBAY took money from my bank account.

Never leave your eggs in one basket. You should always have more then one platform to sell on.

well since eBay just provides the platform upon which to list one's wares and then it is up to the seller to use the site to best advantage to entice customers, there is no guarantee items will sell and that applies to any selling venue...It is up to the seller to get the job done
It's all about the product - it's uniqueness, quality, supply & demand, price points, target market ...
Trends change, buyer habits change...
and yes I believe eBay is going the way of most selling venues these days=sellers will have to do ALL the advertising/promoting to bring in the customers...In the foreseeable future I see sellers having to use social media and other means to get the job done as eBay is no longer going to do it for us.

The pay per click Promotional Listings don't seem like much of a deal, but the original PL is still available and we can still set our own fee on those. And only pay when it actually sells.
You could try ending some listings every day, and relisting them as Sell Similar a week later. There is thought that the algorithms see those as new listings and give them a tiny boost in Search.
With all the Free Listing promotions lately, I was comfortable downgrading one of my Stores from Premium to Basic and I am still not using all my available listings.
And it may not be for you, but,
I list on both eBaydotCOM and dot CA (my home Canadian site) and without paying any more for my Stores, I double the number of free listings available.
This is also true on my non-Store account, where I have 250 free listings on dotCOM and another 250 free on dotCA with no subscription fees.
There are quirks about listing on two sites.

I wonder if all the chatter from the Postmaster -General about how he wants to slow down the mail, along with his successful attempts to mess up USPS delivery last year, is making some consumers leery of online buying this year?
And AZ setting their holiday campaign early may also be discouraging consumers who have decided to shop locally so that they can actually be sure of receiving their purchases.

I have been doing most of the things suggested above. I end old listings every day. I then use sell similar and relist I tweek all the new item specifics until the circle is complete. I sell on ebay, bonanza and my own website. I went down from a premium store to a basic store could that be a factor? How would you even drive people to your on line store?

Same issue here. When everything is up by more than double from last year, we shouldn't be surprised. A lot of people are barely making ends meet right now.

I don't use the promoted listings - never have - and my sales are doing just fine. I've sold six Christmas-related things in the past couple of weeks so it's definitely selling.

I'm down quite a bit the last 2 weeks. It probably has a bit to do with this disastrous category rearrangement they're trying to do. They completely eliminated the vintage auto parts category and now my items are lost in a bunch of Chinese spam.
This happens periodically when they botch some update or other. Jsut have to wait until the dust settles and figure out how to get back on track.
