Will this become a problem?

I have a newer posting of Red Cherry Shrimp Culls.  I have accurately described these shrimp in my posting, with pictures.

I received a message from a buyer who said:  "I'm going to order from you. Now I don't see a good review on you. But I'm good at that. So I don't want to be disappointed but surely surprised. Please send nice ones and you will have a good business coming your way."

So I replied:  "Hi Jose,  Thank you for your order. My shrimp are very healthy. You will receive the culls though, that is what you bought. I will send you a couple of better quality shrimp in your shipment. If you have any problems with your order or what you receive, please let me know.
Thanks again,
Tina"

Is he expecting high quality shrimp?  He bought the culls.

Do you thing this will become a problem?

Thanks,

Tina

I agree with jayjaspersgarage.  Red flag all over.  Any time I get a message from someone that makes me wonder, or any message that tells me how to do business with that buyer (and ONLY that buyer), I will finish out the sale and then block them.

"Cull" by itself does not mean anything other than separation.  You can cull high quality shrimp, you can cull sickly shrimp, you can cull big shrimp, you can cull small shrimp, you can cull blue shrimp.

My guess is that you are culling these shrimp from the population because their colors are off-color from the expected "cherry red", but your description doesn't make that crystal clear to me.

Photograph it as if you are not going to describe it.

Describe it as if you are not going to photograph it.

Many buyers do not read closely (Or at all)

If you want to sell an egg,  and show a dozen eggs in the picture,  the buyer will expect 12 eggs.

@mooretomatoes

These words strongly suggest this person will be  disappointed  if they only receive a few quality ones - So I don't want to be disappointed but surely surprised. Please send nice ones

if you use the word as a noun, a cull is a selection of things you intend to reject, often in reference to a group of animals.

"Stay away from negative people, they have a problem for every solution." A. Einstein

If I was a betting person I would say you are in for a headache and a return. The customer has tipped you off that he / she expects something better than you described. My response would have been "No sale, if you don't know what a cull is then please buy the premium shrimp where they are offered as such."

On another note. Yesterday I was working on a classic 1970 Dodge Challenger. Today I learned something I never knew about shrimp of all things.

You always want to be a clear as possible in your offerings on ebay because ebay will always give the benefit of the doubt AND your money to the customer. This means multiple photos, which you included and a good description of the product are essential. The fact that the potential customer asked the question with a veiled threat of "So I don't want to be disappointed but surely surprised. Please send nice ones" is a red flag.

Hi,  "I'm going to order from you. Now I don't see a good review on you. "  You do have good reviews tough. Nobody said anything bad. You have all 5 stars. Why would that have been said?

In the description of the shrimp it states:  "These shrimp are the culls from my Red Cherry Shrimp tank.  They are very healthy and are raised in my tanks at my home.  Some will be clear, near clear, different shades of red, brown and some forming a Rili pattern."

It is pretty obvious what I am selling.  I just hope everything goes good.

Thanks,

Tina

I guess because I don't have any reviews on the Red Cherry Shrimp Culls yet.

Your feedback looks to be 100% positive, so I'm not sure why they stated:

Now I don't see a good review on you. But I'm good at that. So I don't want to be disappointed but surely surprised.

Almost seems like they might be trying to set you up for a complaint after they receive and try to get them for free or a partial refund.

Hi Mooretomatoes,

I had a freshwater tropical fish business and sold thousands of fish, plants and invertebrates for many years.

Your customer doesn't understand the word cull. I would write them and tell them these are culls, which means they are not A grade but imperfect in coloring.

You are taking a risk here sending culls, your customer has told you they expect bright colored ones. I wouldn't send them until you know they understand this, free pretty shrimp may make him compare the culls against those and cry NSAD. He expects bright red shrimp, his message is pretty clear.

I would use a word that is understood, imperfect color perhaps, especially since many people never bother to read a description.

I don't know anything about selling/shipping fish- but if your shipping 1st class or Priority, many wind up on a plane 30000' in the air- air is thin, cargo planes don't pump in oxygen- will your fish survive?

"... free pretty shrimp..."

That's another red flag. Your third paragraph sums it up.

Not to mention the cold in a lot of the country right now, won't that kill the shrimp? Our mail carrier delivers our mail last on his route, as he does a pick up from us 6 days a week. So he brings his truck to the house and delivers our mail when he does his pick up. Our mail is always *freezing* cold just from being in the back of his truck. These shrimp are being shipped first class, but aren't there special rules about shipping live animals?
