Please read the description and item specifics of my listing #
The size of the painting, 2.5 x 3.5 inches, is stated 3 times including ebay specifics AND also stated the painting is the size of a playing card. The title also indicates small art.
I requested revision and email from ebay says, "Please respect buyer's decision"???
I note all FB left by this buyer is negative.

Well, there is a happy update - received an email from eBay today.
The buyer didn’t return the painting so they’ve closed the case, released the $, and removed the neg.
thanks all for your thoughtful insight and moral support. 🙂

It does state in the description, the size.
On a phone, the description is an added click to view - so many purchase from pix alone, mobile device.
Quick question - is there a reason the Art card is not pictured perhaps not only from an artistic perspective, but also with measurements next to it, etc? Understand the enhancement for detail, etc.
Your artwork is amazing, btw. Especially, if it is the size of a deck of cards, card.

I appreciate the suggestion of also showing the dimensions next to the photo, but the item specifics as well as the item description, a total of 4 times the size is stated as well as "small" in the title.. I do think I did due diligence in indicating the accurate size.

You can leave a Response to any feedback, indefinitely.
Which you did.
I would not have included the last sentence. Let him look like the nitwit.
You might consider putting the size in the title , possibly BEFORE "original abstract" , since a lot of buyers are shopping by phone.
I notice that you managed this with a "16x20 canvas".

Small is relative.
I looked at it from my phone. You should also. If someone shops from a device and never clicks to the description, it is hard to tell size of the artwork. Title does not have dimensions.
Just a suggestion. I do not think asking e-Bay again will get it removed.
Good luck!

Tough call but I did look at the original listing and the international shipping is stated as $.70 USD which means seventy cents. Seventy dollars would be posted as $70.00. I know that was not in play for this sale but attention to detail is important.
I agree that the size of these miniatures should be up front in the title so cell phone shoppers can see it first.
Your work is very nice. We all get a neg at least once. It will fall away in about a year and shouldn't hurt your sales when people see how unreasonable the buyers' comments are.

Maybe use the word "Mini" vs Small, along with the dimension in title?

Others will probably disagree, but I would definitely try again to get the feedback removed. The feedback says "Why didn’t you list the microscopic size of this “original” “painting”?", but that's exactly what you did - your description couldn't be any clearer. This isn't the buyer's "experience", it's a false statement that can easily be proven as such.
Before you try again, it’s imperative that you first report the buyer. Use the reasons ‘Buyer made a false claim’ and ‘Claimed the item wasn’t as described and it was’.
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/resolving-buyer-issues/reporting-issue-buyer?id=4084
Only after you report the buyer, send a message to eBay for Business on Facebook briefly and politely explaining the issue. Use a phrase like "Buyer claimed the listing did not include the dimensions and it did".

Just a side note - I totally get not using a ruler or adding dimensions to every single art piece. It's distracting, takes away from the piece, and would take forever. You might want to consider making a stock photo though, like a blank rectangle with the dimensions out to the side. You could add this to every listing without it taking away from your main photo.

Thank you popblox. I can’t imagine not checking the size of something before buying then objecting to the size. I’ve emailed eBay exactly as you said as also seems to question original (is original, not a print, not a copy) & that it’s a painting, which it is.

I don't think the buyer was trying to say that it wasn't an original but when you say "original painting" you think of a painting, like something you hang on the wall, not a playing card. That being said you did CLEARLY list the size.
Quick story. I once sold a item where i clearly listed the size AND the weight of the item. The buyer left me a negative feedback that said "i was expecting it to be bigger". Ebay would not remove it. I think that's what's going on here.
You do not deserve this negative but the buyer has a right to his opinion. I hope you can get it removed. Let us know. Good luck!

"I was expecting it to be bigger" is still a buyer opinion, but "Why didn’t you list the microscopic size of this “original” “painting”?" is a false statement. OP can prove they did, very clearly, include the size in the listing (several times).
eBay will remove false statements that can be proven to be false, as long as the false statement isn't mixed in with opinion (I mean, they did the last time I checked - like 6 months ago, so who really knows).
I almost always agree with you @inhawaii, but I really think OP has a shot on this one!

I thought your follow-up comment was good, and like another poster upthread, I also would have omitted the part about the feedback being libelous. It is not necessary to point out the obvious. Any buyer reading that feedback can immediately tell that this person is moronic. They didn't comprehend and/or read the description.
The reason I would not have written the "libelous" remark was two-fold. First, it might take the possibility of feedback revision off the table. Did you reach out to the buyer at all, expressing your concern that they were unhappy with the artwork size? You might have been able to reason with them, gently point out their mistake, and see if they were amenable to a feedback revision request. Plus, it is just good business not to criticize a buyer, even if they deserve it.
The important audience you are reaching with the follow-up comment is future buyers. Not other sellers, or even the current buyer. It is the future buyers that matter and they need to see how well you handle a problem customer or a customer's concern. A negative feedback can be completely disarmed by a well-thought out response from the seller. It is an opportunity to show one's quality. Second, also consider that it is the buyer who gets the last word in feedback. (That's why I avoid making any statement that can be construed as blaming the buyer or sounding angry or defensive.)
The problem all sellers face is the buyer who doesn't do his due diligence. This isn't going to go away, so sellers need to be as proactive as possible to ward off these kinds of issues. All that can be done is to try to put as much info into the title as possible, and in the condition field which appears under some categories. But let me say that this does not mean you are any way to blame for the outcome of this transaction. Your listing was very clear. I would try again to get eBay to remove it. You may have to try several times. Good luck.
