I am new to ebay and have listed a larger value electronic item. I have someone that has made me an offer of $600 and i declined it. I then made them a counteroffer of $700 and they declined it. The next day they sent me another offer i also declined for $650. Now they have sent me another offer for the $700. I am just kind of worried because when i look at their profile it shows a partial adress for a warehouse and no name. When i asked for more info about shipping he said that it will all be there when he paypals me. I also asked him what it is he sells because the item i am selling is for shipping. He responded back with some vague response. He also has positive feedback but none of it is in the last 6 months and the account is 19 years old, and also nothing for sale. Below is the thread it just seemed very robotic am i being scammed?

Honestly I'd be more worried about a 2021 account vs 14yrs old. Sounds like back and fourth offers and he's basically accepting you're $700 offer. I mean who else would spend that kind of money on the item if they didnt need it? Just make sure you insure it , signature required, and package it well. Signature required is a must for any seller protection

@jarcoo33 - You are a new seller and to me you are asking way too many questions up front. If you want to sell online you need to accept that there are certain risks one takes. It is online not in person. The buyer is sending you, a perfect stranger to them, money for something they can only see photos of and read whatever you've written. This is a lot of money for the buyer as well to put out there. A buyer doesn't have to supply an address in advance of purchasing.
Yes this person could be a scammer. They could also be a good buyer who actually needs what you are selling, just like they already explained to you. You could question everything about this person to no end.
There are no guarantees when selling online. Could be a scammer, could not be a scammer. It's always a risk when selling online. At the end of the day it is you who have to accept the risk or not. You let the first offer expire and they continued to send you another because it sounds like they want your item. Scammers don't tend to spend a lot of time pursuing a particular item, they are looking for easy targets only. They get bored easily and move on. This person keeps coming back. Sounds like you have a good sale here. Best of luck to you....

Oh hun, let me take you under my wing.
So the basic 3 three things you have:
1. I'm a new seller
2. I've just list an expensive ELECTRONIC item
3. You have good old "Fred the scammer" waiting for you.
You see what's wrong with this picture?
Always start small when selling, you need to get the feel of shipping, packing, listing..goes on
List your items at a BIN price, no offers. This will reduce the "Freddy fur faces" out there.
Don't text outside of ebay, and don't respond any longer to Freddy.
So for those top 3 items I listed at the beginning.....you are a sitting duck for "Freddys". Please be careful, ebay is not a piece of cake.

Be prepared for them to ask for your email or phone number. Under no circumstances give them that information.
When they ask for that, you will know it’s a scam.

Look at the response that buyer left OP:
"I am a small business that ships small cartons to my customers and looking to enhance the appearance of the package with gummed tape"
😆 LOL who talks like that??? I'm surprised that kindly wasn't wrote in there.

It's not grammatically correct, but saying "enhance the appearance" is the kind of lingo I would use to appear somewhat educated (which I am not... all my colleagues have university, one has a masters degree, another has a law degree... I got a job like that with some luck, and a well written application).
In any event it's because of all this over analysis by everyone that I don't talk to anyone I buy from, I don't make offers (unless I can accept they might decide to block me if they don't like my offer), I don't tell anyone anything. I just buy it and pay for it and leave it at that. Some people I buy from often reach out to me lo let me know when more like items are listed. It seems that no matter what a buyer says, someone might think that buyer is a scammer.

OP was it listed with Best Offer? If not then high chance it was a scam. Just a heads up, until you get 100 feedback you will get a lot of scam offers. Never agree to send a gift to to an APO, never take a larger check and send back the balance, good basic rules is if it smells funny it most likely is rotten
