Will April 13 Defect Count Toward July 20 Evaluation?

Hi all,

I’m trying to get clarity on how eBay’s evaluation system handles timing for defects.

I received a transaction defect dated April 13th on another account of mine. This account sells roughly 350 items per month, so I get evaluated on 3 month time frames. I’ve already submitted an appeal, but just in case it isn’t removed, I’m trying to figure out whether it will still count against me in my next seller evaluation on July 20th.

It’s more than 90 days old by that point, but I’ve seen some conflicting info. Some sellers say eBay uses a rolling 90-day window for defect evaluations, while others say it’s based on the last 3 calendar months.

Since April 13 is technically outside the 90-day window on July 20, but still falls within the April–June calendar quarter, I’m unsure if it will impact my transaction defect rate on that review.

Has anyone had a similar situation or gotten a definitive answer from eBay support? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! -Nicholas

Will April 13 Defect Count Toward July 20 Evaluation?

On the 20th each month sellers are evaluated for the period ending the previous month.  Whatever the evaluation is becomes effective on the first of the following month.

So the upcoming evaluation on July 20th, will be for the period ending June 30th, and the findings become effective August 1st.

Your evaluation period depends on how may transactions you have.  If you do 400+ in the previous 90 days,, then you are eval'd on the previous 90 days.  If you have less transactions than that, they you are eval'd on the previous 12 month period.

In a nutshell, Yes your April defect will count in the upcoming evaluation.  Keep a close watch on your seller dashboard as all the important info on Defects are there.
