Why won't be ebay start punishing BIG Sellers with duplicate listings!!!

I've heard of many small sellers getting big penalties for very minimum errors, such as an accidental relist.

Layely ive been searching motorcycle parts and they are FLOODED with the same sellers just changing the words around.

This picture below is an example. It's a bearing that is a generic fit for all makes and models, and the buyer just changes the title and says it fits different bikes! Is this really an easy way around duplicate listings? I've reported in the past and nothing happens! Makes searching for stuff VERY, VERY DIFFICULT!

Go to advanced settings and block the seller in your search parameters. Continue to hit them with the report button too.

Because as you said they change the wording just enough to get around it.

I see the same thing.  Excact title and wording but the number them from 1 to 250.

And as the above seller said, put them right into your blocked seller list and poof.

Same thing goes on on Craigslist. Trying to report all the cell phone repair ads that show up in farm and garden is an effort in futility... and yet Joe Schmoe trying to sell a handful of different items gets ghosted for trying to post 'multiples'.

keep reporting them, keep reporting them. Even ask for higher ups to speak with. its very unfair. I sell clothing and i see the same thing with sellers using multiple accounts. It makes me feel like it is extremely unfair. Keep reporting!

Wow. I actually reported a used appliance store for flooding Craigslist. They had over 2,000+ keywords in every description that had to do with engines and bikes and playhouses....I was so annoyed i wrote them a bad Yelp review... 1 week later I received a certified letter from an attorney asking to remove the Yelp review or I would be taken to court for 'defamation'!!!! Of course I took it down, but would love legal advice on that because I would LOVE to Pit that review back up...

When I called, the lady answered and the first thing she said was, "are you calling about our Craigslist ads"... WOW!!!!

It's to lengthy of a process. I copy and paste the duplicate. Then go into the listing to report, then when i add the item number, it also asked for the item number of the listing in reporting it through!! They need and easier process.

yelp would never even exist if people could get sued. that's what the site is called, YELP! put the review back up. I guarantee you that letter did not come from an attorney. anyone can type up a letter and it costs money to have an attorney type a letter.

You just need to use the appropriate 'keywords' and phrases in your complaint/review - just like they do in their ads.  You want to use words like 'in my opinion' and 'it seems to me' and 'it appears'  and 'might' and 'may' and 'could' and so on.  Smiley Surprised  Smiley Wink  Smiley Very Happy

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Perhaps if Brains were described as an APP, many people would use them more often.

Most buyers have NO IDEA how to screen out a seller. They just wade through all these multiple listings, often leave, and never see the small sellers' listings

the fact is these big sellers anre breaking the rules and shutting down other businesses. small sellers are punished for even small errors. Big sellers like this and many of the chinese get to screw up the categories and effectively block views to other sellers through breaking the rules.

hate to break this to yall but these are not considered duplicate listings.

If the words are changed around (and usually the price has to change also) ebay does not flag these as identical listings.

YES they are the same ITEM, but the listings ARE different, even if only slightly so, and that is all ebay cares about.

I believe the intent of the rule was to stop people from list-flooding the site....if you have to change some things around, that at least slows down those that would just hit RELIST.

Reporting these listings is a waste of your time and ebay resources because they are NOT violations.

You've identified a big problem that is not only chasing buyers away, but effectively ruining the business of smaller sellers. They can't be seen because of the flood of rule-breaking duplicate multiples by big/Chinese sellers manipulating the system.

You will be scolded here with directions to block the seller lol, but of course most ebay buyers have no idea how to do that and won't figure it out. It is not easy to figure out.

What will happen is that the buyers will either leave Ebay and go somewhere else, and never see the smaller sellers who are forced to follow the rules and thus get ruined. Or only one or two sellers will wipe out everyone else through breaking the rules with impunity.

Smaller sellers get punished readily for duplicates. You can report these larger/ often Chinese sellers all day, and their listings will still be there clogging up entire categories.

Yes, chic. It happens. Many attorneys do absultely nothing but break the law and threaten people all day long lol. They know they'll lose but they know that people can't afford to defend themselves.

It's a very professional letter with court address and all. Didn't read the whole thing but I can even upload a photo of it (if that's allowed)
