It seems like I’m always getting chargebacks recently? 2 in two weeks. 4 in the last year? What is happening? Anyone else having an uptick in these frivolous chargebacks?

Are those chargebacks for doesn’t recognize transactions or some other reason?
I haven't had any chargebacks.

“Problem with transaction”
”Doesn’t recognize charge”
The “problem with transaction” has no other info, buyer opened it exactly 3 months after receiving the sneakers.

All you can do is upload tracking into those cases.
I never had a problem with transaction dispute. Several years ago I had a couple didn't recognize transaction.

Like Return Requests in Ebay, Chargebacks need to be taken on a case by case basis. So the reason the Chargebacks were filed is very important. In the email Ebay sent you notifying you of the Chargeback Dispute, they also told you the reason the buyer opened it. So what were the reasons? It is important information in order to answer the question you have asked.

I’m having a hard time understanding “problem with transaction” as there is no other info provided. I have no idea what the problem is. I sent the buyer a message he replied with “whatever”.
Originally, the buyer asked for multiple discounts, I even lowered the price enough to prevent “authentication” from kicking in. Big mistake. I knew better….

Ok- I've never had one and then 2 weeks ago I got one for a coffee mug going to new buyer in New England. Chargeback came while mug in transit- like why not just return the mug? I blocked buyer. Reported buyer, and I got a message from ebay not to worry i was covered by seller protection. And sure enough I kept my $$. I do not know if ebay refunded buyer. All I know is I kept my $$

I think it relates to selling designer goods. Seems people that want them the most can afford them the least and are willing to resort to less than honest means of obtaining them.

All Chargeback Disputes has a reason that a buyer has to claim with their financial company in order to file a dispute. That reason is given to the seller in the email Ebay generates to inform the seller of the Chargeback.
"Problem with transaction" is not related to a Chargeback, but an issue Ebay had with the listing or the buyer. That is a different thing all together and is NOT a Chargeback.

There are a couple reasons that can happen. In the email you got from Ebay notifying you of the Chargeback dispute, there is a reason the buyer gave to their financial institute.
When a buyer tells their financial institute that they do not recognize the charge, that is a reason that Ebay will tell the seller not to worry about it as they will take care of it. Ebay then sends the info to the credit card company to prove that the buyer did create the transaction.
Or if there was an INR that you won in Ebay and then a buyer goes and opens the Chargeback, that is another reason why Ebay would protect the seller and just handle it for you. There is likely other reasons too, but these are two common examples.
It is also why it is so important to read the email carefully. The reason the buyer filed it is there.

Part time seller here.
I have about 20 sales a week. 80 sales a month.
I can't even remember the last time I had a chargeback.
So the question is, why are YOU having so many chargebacks?

Just remember that if eBay attempts to steal from you by debiting your bank account to compensate for the chargebacks, you too can file a chargeback. Tell your bank that the debit is unauthorized.

Ebay does NOT control the outcome of a Chargeback. That is 100% in the control of the Credit Card Company. So Ebay is NOT stealing anything. They are doing what is require of them BY LAW to refund the CCC if that is their ruling.
There are times that Ebay will cover a seller for certain things with a Chargeback. Which I went over in my post #10 on this thread.
Doing as you suggest is a sure fire way to get that account frozen and possibly banned from selling here at all.

I got my first one last week and I've been selling for years. He said he didn't recognize the transaction.

The email you got from Ebay informing you of this Chargeback should have also told you that you don't need to do anything, Ebay will handle it. So you won't be losing any money over this one, or you should not. Let us know if something different happens.
