Why so low???

I purchased 4 autographed items today.  3 are jerseys.  All have certificates by top authenticators.  After, when I check sold prices on eBay, I find the prices are so ridiculously low.  Why???!   Stars with PSA/DNA going for a lousy $75?!  Guess I won't be posting mine on here.  Stop selling things so cheap!  Thank you for your time.  lol   Stay safe all.    🙂

If they are in fact authentic,  it would seem that tou were able to get a deal.

Maybe the sellers needed money for various reasons.

Rent, food etc.

I believe being grateful for your good luck would be warranted.

Be well and enjoy your finds,

Thank you but I bought these & expected I can make a profit.  I did not buy them online.  I thought I could sell them here but see the prices are incredibly low & I would take a great loss posting them on eBay if I expect to even sell them.   Disappointing!   Take care.

It can be disappointing,I'm sure, but if you hold onto them, maybe you can do better down the line.

I hope that you do well with them.

Why did you sink the money into them before checking how much they were actually selling for?

All i can say is with sports right now and the players taking a knee, their are a lot of people that absolutely refuse to support teams in any way right now. Just saying....

Sports in general has been on the decline for the past several years.  Just look at the attendance to big-name games even before Covid. It was shocking to see stands only 20% full. The new generation wants electronics and not sports. This has been in the news for years.  Even HS sports are in a massive decline. If you ask me sports of any kind are dead. The number of fans will not return and only continue to decline. They are in the same boat as antiques, vintage cars, stamps, baseball cards, etc. Good luck!

The price to flip and the price to the end man are two different prices, that's for sure.

Pandemic has Caused America's Retail Sales to Collapse to Historic Lows.

Massive Job Losses

Closing of the Economy for months

Limited Discretionary Income

Under these circumstances, autographed jerseys are not high on the list of needs.

@sakic92710

Just some helpful advice. Always check on Ebay before purchasing something to make sure you don't pay too much for resell. Sorry you paid too much and can now not sell them. I did that a few times back when I did not know better but since learned my lesson. Now I always check prior to a purchase to make sure there is a profit..

Talking to guys that i know that sell sports memorabilia they have been saying for the last two years that its on a downhill run and they moved to other venues to avoid losing their shirt on it.  Sports are no longer favorable or important to a mast majority of the public, and after that whole taking a knee **bleep** it really left a foul taste in the mouth of those who were still avid fans.  I know hardcore sports fans that dumped all their stuff and remodeled their tv rooms and mancaves to be non-sport related.  Its dying, and its dying hard!!  HS sports are fighting to keep full teams, even before Covid hit, kids aren't interested in sports, and the older they get the more sports will die as the generations pass the torch.

I suspect that major league sports will be dead in the next 10-15 years, i have heard some say 5-10 years, but i suspect they will try to hold on a lot longer.  Some new sports stadiums that were going to be built got put off indefinitely, and then Covid hit and they sold the land and canceled the project due to projected income loss.

Buying and selling sports stuff is going to be a tough market to be in soon, it might come back around as nostalgia sales though, but even that stuff has died hard.  People don't have much fun money to spend anymore, if it wasn't for the other work i do besides eBay my sales alone wouldn't support me anymore, but a couple years ago sales alone were enough to keep me working 40 hour weeks.  The world is changing!

Well as bad as I hate it I agree, looks like we are getting back to the junk wax era of the 80s and 90s producing too many cards. A card shop no longer in business showed me some tricks they used before the foil packs they used a metal detector to find the foil cards , then after the foil packs came out the company's would put the good packs in the same place in every box (say the left side top third pack from top) and the card dealers knew that. Now they are printing and releasing all year long flooding the market again a signature card used to be a rare but not now. Thank God for Ebay I can pick and chose the ones I want , also a lot of people are out of work money is tight

I've been selling sports and college stuff on eBay for over a decade.  For me the decline did not start until covid-19 hit and major events like March madness were cancelled.  NFL stuff picked up with the return of football,  but other sports are still a tough sell.    I don't think sports are dead, but the hey day for collectibles has passed especially high ticket items.      I'm not making any changes this year.  January-March 2021 will be a better barometer of whether sports stuff will make a comeback.

Interest in sports now is being propped up by the influx of legalized sports betting.

But that doesn't add to peoples desire for jerseys, etc.

IMO the quality vintage or antique collectibles will hold their value. The stuff being produced solely to market to collectors = junk, and will decline in value.

eBay is a great site for buying because the prices tend to be low.   Add yourself to one of thousands that figured that out.
