Why my Ebay stores always block everyone with private feedback

Why would a legitimate buyer set his feedback to "private"? What is he hiding? Something is very fishy.

Our Ebay stores have encountered major problems with many if not most of these buyers, such as attempted extortion of partial refunds under threat of leaving fake negative feedback; cases inexplicably opened just one or two days after orders were placed; puzzling cancellation requests; returns demanded months after the return privilege had expired; or dozens or even hundreds of harassing messages.

We always look for red flags in order to avoid dealing with criminals and weirdos. Private feedback is one of them and invariably results in a block. These lowlifes are never worth the trouble, at least in our experience.

Heck, we blocked a creep today who demanded to see a coin in its PCGS holder because he did not trust us. Yet, we are supposed to trust him, an anonymous total stranger with almost no feedback? He is probably a crook himself, hence his paranoia and projection.

Some fellow coin dealers refuse to sell on Ebay due to the plethora of scammers and wackos. But our screening process dramatically reduces interactions with such undesirables.

Curiously, our biggest spending customers NEVER set their feedback to "private". Or give us a hard time in any other way.

Buyers who set their feedback to private are "criminals, weirdos, creeps, scammers and wackos?"  Sounds like your screening process dramatically reduces interactions with potential buyers.

Honestly, some people just like privacy.

Because he is incontinent and bought adult diapers and some seller mentioned the item he bought in his feedback.

Why would you not show a picture of a PCGS graded coin in its PCGS holder? What are you hiding? Something is very fishy.

@certifiedcitynet    some people think it's nobody's business what they buy

i think there would be more private setting accounts if it was more well known to do so

personally, i never had a problem with a private setting account buyer in the 14 years i've been selling

People do this because they don't want a spouse or family member to know what they bought.  It does not have to be a porn item.  Years ago, the buyers IDs were not hidden.  So a wife could check to see what hubby bought and vice versa. That is not that much of a problem now .   I have not had an issue with any buyer with a private feedback.

Some people just don't like the items they buy to be shown for the eBay community to see. Maybe they are personal items or perhaps a gift they are purchasing or have purchased. Sometimes it is not always about feedback but yes, sometimes it is. I have not had any problems with buyers who have feedback private but yes, it does make me a bit nervous.

I am sure it makes buyers nervous too when sellers have this set to private as well.

It would which is why selling accounts are not able to have Private Feedback!

I honestly did not know that. I could swear I was buying something from someone and their feedback was all marked private so I moved on. Thanks I must have been mistaken ðŸ˜Š

Sellers can set individual listings to "Private," so that the feedback comments don't show any information about the listing (title, listing number, price).  That's not the same as hiding their entire feedback profile.

Sellers can set their bidders/buyers username to private...to me, those are the shadiest auctions.  Yes, the exception is its allowing your bidders a certain amount of privacy, which they have regardless, the rule is the seller is up to no good.  It's just too easy to shill bid.

Your answers are pure guesses. I doubt that we would have gone to the trouble to list $8 million worth of coins (auction value) just to attempt to cheat someone out of $1,000. And risk losing our membership in the CDN Exchange and their status as the third highest bidder in dollar volume.

Rare coins do not photograph well in holder shot, genius. Such photos make coins look much darker, duller, and uglier than they are.

I said "many if not most" buyers, not all.

Our experiences differ. You do not sell rare coins, as we do.

I have had more issues with buyers, that are also sellers.  But very few issues with people that have a private feedback, or with people that have 0 feedback.  In my humble opinion, you are overacting.

Good luck on your selling journey.
