Why isn't shipping working today?

I keep getting this, doesn't matter which listing I try to print shipping on:

Going somewhere else to print labels is going to be lots of extra work, why can't I print them on eBay?

My zipcode is Niagara Falls New York. It's the same address I've always used.

I'm logged into eBay.com. If I were in the CA one, I wouldn't be able to print USPS labels.

Oh, and furthermore, I can print ESE labels for postcards and banknotes, but no labels that have USPS tracking.

I live in Canada, but I ship from Niagara Falls NY (which is my return address). I just checked online and the zipcode is correct. I don't see anything on any boards to say there's a problem with shipping and the service thing that tells you if a service is down on eBay is telling me shipping is working fine.

I read your post and the replies ... that's rather odd if you have never had issues before and have not done anything different.  It could of course be a temporary eBay glitch or USPS glitch, stranger things have happened right.  I searched outside eBay and found the link below, not sure if this would cover your issue or not.

On occasion I get a red banner message that they can't complete the process and to try later.   Which I do and it often will clear in several hours if not sooner.

USPS has had a lot of short-lived outages lately, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the problem here. You got your ESE labels done so that's a positive.

Have you tried a different browser or the app? Not necessarily as a solution, but to rule out an issue tied to a browser update or a bad cookie.

Even though it would be more work to buy labels elsewhere, keep in mind that both pirateship and stamps.com offer the ability to import eBay orders and automatically transfer tracking. Pirate is free and stamps has a free account for eBay sellers if you call up their CS and request it. I believe Shippo is a popular option for Canadians purchasing USPS labels, although I'm not sure if they integrate with eBay

Is that free Stamps account still available to sellers. I have been using one of the free eBay accounts for about 15 years. I have wondered if they are still available for new sign ups.

Personally I find that using Stamps or PirateShip (or any of the others) to be a lot easier and definitely more reliable that eBay's system.

When I switched to Stamps it was mostly because at the time there was chronic problems with eBay/PayPal/Pitney Bowes. Prior to the free Stamps account I had a paid account with Endicia just to avoid the chronic problems (including some USPS services never available that way).

Yes, it is @slippinjimmy . Create a regular account with the free trial they offer. Once your account is created call CS and ask to be switched to the free eBay account. They will ask you a few questions about your shipping volume.

   I heartily agree with wastingtime101's suggestion of options. I stopped using eBay's cumbersome and restrictive shipping/labeling system about 15 years ago because of it being subject to a lot of downtime, tinkering and unreliability.

   I started using stamps.com and have been thrilled with it ever since. Automatic input from eBay, Amazon and Etsy and automatic post-back of tracking and all necessary information to the sites. I even automate feedback at eBay. On top of that is excellent and understandable CS at stamps.com from real live staff that actually has the authority to get problems solved quickly. Over the last 15 years I've only had to call them 3 times.

   With a healthy 1100 sales in the last 90 days, the $20(US) monthly fee may be just a drop in the bucket for your business model. How much is reliability, consistency, and ease of use worth to you? I hope stamps.com or other similar options are available to you in Canada, and that this is helpful to you.

I'll try cookies and clearing cache shortly if it's not fixed when I try again (I went outside to rake leaves for an hour... figured I'd do something else, if it still doesn't work I'll use Stamps.com to print labels. I checked on one already, stamps.com works fine).

I'm on a desktop computer. Nothing in the printer queue. No labels charged to Paypal (my funding source).

Thanks, I'll be back when I tried more things. I just got back online from an hour break.

I'm not very techy, so I'm not really sure how to import eBay info in stamps.com, but I can print labels on it no problem.

I decided first to do all my Canadian stuff and ESE stuff, then I tested one label on stamps.com to see if it would work, then I decided just to do something else for a bit. No sense in being frustrated and there were a lot of leaves to rake up outside.
