Item sold 4 days ago, trying to close it as non pay but today the sale date on the Awaiting Payment page changed to 2 days ago while when you click on the listing, it shows the actual sale date being 4 days ago.
I can't close it as non pay because on the Awaiting Payment page after I go to cancel the sale, it says the sale was done 2 days ago. Is this a glitch tied to sending an invoice to the buyer and the system then thinks after you send an invoice that that is the new sale date now?
The weird part is that the actual listing does show the correct sale date.
Anyone else having this issue?

I believe that every time you send an invoice the date will change to the new date.
Works great for folks that need an extra day or something.
Sometimes it does not work for single items.
So, if you are resending invoices for payment reminders, you are just giving your buyer extra time.

I think that eBay intended it to work that way as I think that it’s been like ever since they went to the new unpaid item system

Are your sale dates also changing inside your Awaiting Payment page at times?

Honestly I rarely look at the awaiting payment page as buyers tend to pay right away sonI can’t answer that

There is no need to send an invoice unless you are adjusting the total. If you are adjusting the total then the buyer has 4 days to pay from the time the adjusted invoice is sent.

Agreed, EBay sends daily reminders to pay for unpaid lots. When I start racking auction wins from a few sellers and carry them for a few days for combined shipping, I get payment reminders daily (24, 48, 72hr after auction end). You sending buyer an invoice does nothing but give the buyer more time to pay as it resets the payment time window. Unless you're updating the total, don't send an invoice unless you're cool with leaving the unpaid item open longer w/o being able to file a UPI case

Quit sending invoice reminders.

There's a logic to it. If you are combining shipping or offered a discount, the buyer can't pay until they receive the invoice and they get the full four days from then to pay.
Ebay could write the code to only adjust payment date if you are adjusting the total but (1) the invoice becomes nothing but a reminder to pay, which eBay already sends out, and (2) sellers would lose the option of extending a payment window by issuing an invoice. Sellers can specify that unpaid orders are automatically cancelled after four days. If a buyer contacts a seller and says, "I will buy a couple more things and pay on day 5," the seller can send an invoice to extend the payment window rather than lose the sales.

Why is this site changing the sold date after an invoice reminder is sent?
Because it's not fair to start the clock on nonpayment until the buyer knows how much to pay!

That would not be fair to buyers who were told by the seller that there would be an adjusted invoice and then the seller renegs.
Or for buyers who purchase an item that says "wait for an invoice before paying".

Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks!

I am also experiencing this problem. I spoke with Ebay rep "Braze" today who indicated it was scheduled to be fixed by the end of the day today (05/11/23) which is fast approaching.
The Ebay guidelines in "Help and Contact" states it is okay to send an invoice as a reminder. It specifically states the 4 days starts when the listing ended unless you send a COMBINED invoice.
It states as follows: "If the buyer still hasn't paid after you've sent the invoice, andit's been more than 4 calendar days SINCE THE LISTING ENDED, cancel the order by selecting the Cancel order button below and choosing Buyer hasn't paid in the drop down menu.
This appears to be another Ebay programming oversight. If .. it was intentionally programmed to change the 4 days calculation to start over when sending an invoice as a reminder to pay then they should have also updated the "help" guidelines to reflect this. I wish Ebay would take the time to proof read and test things BEFORE changes are released live. It is so frustrating to try and run a business properly when Ebay makes changes without being completely transparent or informing sellers as to what is going on. Not to mention when things are reported to customer service it takes forever to get things fixes and we are never updated.

We have a buyer who keeps requesting updated invoices for multiple items. We are now at 11 days past auction end for the oldest item, with another 4 days for them to pay. At what point do we deny fulfilling their request to renew their invoice and wait for the additional 4 days to file nonpayment strikes? This change to resetting the clock after an invoice is sent is unappealing and highly troublesome as a seller.

Apparently ebay changed this around 3/4 months ago - didn't bother to tell anyone, just allowed us to find out ourselves. I know this only started for me in the last week or so, i'm guessing it was rolled out in different regions at different times. ebay are notorious for changing things when they don't need changing and likewise not bothering to inform the people affected. a simple pop-up message informing you that re-sending an invoice will re-set the sale date.
