I went into my listings today, and saw a banner running across the TOP of my listings from another persons store, offering similar items for sale, prompting those that come to my store and listings to look at theirs....first ....is what comes to my mind....they are deliberately leading them to another persons store.I am paying for my store--------not someone else's store--------it is one thing to have similar items at the "bottom" of your listing----but it is a whole other thing to have it put at the very top of your home page running across the top of the page,in your face.......It's scuzzy, dirty, wrong, they know, they don't care.Ebay keeps doing everything they can to lose my faith and trust in them. They show us every time we turn around how little they care....it is NOT good business practice,it is unethical to say the least. They want you to set your store up,pick out your banner, you do your photos ,your descriptions, download them, work your but off.....then at the very top of the page on "YOUR FOR SALE ITEM" they fly freely someone else's store banner, like hey look at me..........NO,this is not right.Even when your store goes on vacation..........this is where it shows,so buyers can see it.............what.s the point in having a store????? If your promoting someone else's product on your page?????? It is wrong.

The issue sometimes becomes when the price being offered in the massive ad diversion from your own listings is LOWER but the quality is absolute garbage.
Value is poor due to poor quality.
Not every potential buyer is experienced enough in the specifics to discern the difference.
So yes, be the best possible price.
But I am always inclined to add "be sure you are comparing apples to apples"

The banner across the top is probably also found ---much larger---lower in your listing. It is one of the newer types of ads available to store sellers. If you go to your Seller Hub>Advertising>click on the blue Create New Campaign button and it is the one in the middle , "Promote Your Store" to learn more about it.
Edited to add: This link will also give you some info:

It is a Pay Per Click ad campaign, paid for by the store seller.
You are not alone in disliking this relatively new type of ad campaign, but it is unlikely that ebay will eliminate it.

I would not worry too much about it. As long as your listings are priced better.

When I see those ads and the astronomical prices some of these people are asking for the product due to the astronomical price to advertise it’s a no buy from me.

MANY OF THE STORE BANNER listing that appear on our product are about 30 percent more in price comparison. Now that may not be the case with what you sell but any buyer seeing the banners or the regular listings are going to shop at least most will for the best deal. They may click their banner look at what they got then come back to you.

In the meantime, Ebay is collecting fees from that seller and making bucks off of them regardless if their listings sell. Good deal for ebay I would say.

Right. It brings in revenue regardless if there are enough buyers here to actually buy anything.

Amazon does this all the time and has been for years. I shop on Amazon a lot and I see these ads and I am not an impulsive shopper. I see their price then I research other prices. The best price wins.

There is no apple to apple comparison on many of these listings. Some people use these promotions with a highly inferior product for a higher price. There is no consistency with this on here. So use that to your advantage with the best possible pictures descriptions policies like free shipping free returns etc.

Ad revenue will soon exceed sales revenue. LOL!!!!

SOME OF THE HIGH PROMOTE AND HIGH AD REV SELLERS PRODUCTS ARE QUITE LAUGHABLE on the prices they offer as well. I see some that are marked up about 600 percent.

I just came back to ebay after years of beung away. Way different game now. Trying to just be a good, honest seller.
Initially paid for the "promoted " listing's. With store fees, selling fees, and "free shipping " that they like to push on you. Didn't make **bleep** for profit.
Gonna change some things and see what happens. Like most people say,, ebay doesn't give a crap about sellers. Which is about the most ass backwards thing for this platform
